The concerts thread

Last gig I went to was Girlschool at the Gosport Festival. The band were pretty good but not really suitable for an audience of non-metal fans. The PA cut out a couple of songs in, the security guys got a bit OTT with one lad and everytime I looked around some more of the audience had buggered off home.
Next ones I'm looking forward to:
Dendera at the Wedgewood Rooms and Dragonforce/Alestorm at The Pyramids.

Saw Huntress and the Wretched Friday night. Both were good, but they played short sets due to the poor attendance. I think there were more band members in the bar than paying customers. Next concert is Soulfly next Friday night.

Haven't been to any shows for a while, but just bought tickets for Pallbearer & Samothrace in Lawrence, Kansas 9/16. Can't wait. The Pallbearer album is my 2012 album of the year so far.

No idea what the last band I watched was, might have been Fields of the Nephilim last November cause I don't remember going to any shows since. Next one is GORGUTS in just under 2 weeks, getting closer:kickass:

At the Granada? I've been there a few times. About a two hour drive for me, but it's worth it. Some good bands come through there.

It's actually at The Jackpot Music Hall, I've never been there before, but I have been to The Granada several times. Ticket's are only $11.00 on Ticket Master. Can't wait. I saw Pallbearer before at Rites of Darkness, but had to take some stuff back to the hotel so I missed a bit of their set, which was a stupid ass move on my part.

Ah, ok. I've never heard of the Jackpot Music Hall. Do metal bands come through there often? I'll have to look into it.

Saw Iron Maiden on Thursday. I have to say that it was the best show I've ever seen in a big amphitheater. Usually I can't stand amphitheater shows, especially with seating, but this was great. The band has great stage presence, especially Dickinson, who must of been in theatre school as a kid. Janick was wildly entertaining as well.

The sets and props were really fun. Highlights included: 7th Son of a 7th Son, Phantom of the Opera and Run to the Hills.

Saw Agalloch last night. This is my third time seeing them and I have to say it was a really excellent experience. Just riveting. They did a phenomenal performance of In our Shadow of Pale Companion that was really soulful and also did Bloodbirds 1-3 as an encore. The 3rd part was amazing with the band members creating noise soundscapes with everything from candles to dear hooves! They also did Hallways of Enchanted Ebony, which I never expected to hear live. Really just great.

Taurus opened and was really quite excellent. I'm not a fan of Dark Castle, so I didn't expect to like this band, but this is way darker and more unsettling. Really good doomy sludge. Bought their record and really looking forward to listening to it.

Really? I went to the NY show and Taurus was so awful and ear-splitting my friend and I just left the room and waited out their set in the bar/merchandise area. And my God that fucking artsy video they had playing with the screechy feedback noises...

The sound quality was great at the show I went to. I thought those videos accentuated the music quite well.
