The Day That Never Comes - New Metallica Single

Yeah it's not bad but not great. I'm assuming it'd be the least thrashiest song on the album though seeing as it's a single, so fingers crossed the other ones are a tad more interesting. The second half of the song is much better than the first.

I honestly hope that that isn't the final version of it.

the drums sound like shit!
is a bit of a wankfest too but not all that bad.

yeah, does sound like a Black/Load era song that was left on the side.

not bad but nothing really grabbing.
honestly feels as though it's missing something.

will probably grow on us but for now, will wait to hear the rest of the album and see how it all stands up in final edit and mix.

They also did some hokey one-off single collaboration stuff for a while there too, didn't they? That Mission Impossible song for one, and wasn't there some metal/hip hop crossover mash-up stuff with Jay-Z or some shit like that?

Metallica's wiki pages are pretty comprehensive. I'm still skeptical about the number of singles though. I know that Music For Nations released "Jump in the Fire" and "Creeping Death" as singles in the UK only because I have both of them on various formats, but I was always of the belief that the first "official" Metallica single was "Harvester of Sorrow".

2 mins in, and it hasn't grabbed me yet, I really hope the rest of the album is better, of course i'll still buy it even if it is shit, it's the sort of guy I am. But I was so hoping for a fucking full on thrash fest, you know, Machine Head took the step back when they got ripped on, they were smart, I was hoping 'tallica was gonna wise up a bit too

you're the second person in as many days to compare Machine Head with Metallica in the hope that they would step back and become thrashier.

Was talking to a couple of friends who have been Metallica fans since Kill 'Em All and we pretty much said that it will take at least two albums (including this one) for them to find their sound again.
Just hope Rick Rubin did a good job and kept them all in check.

also, anyone else heard rumours about Some Kind of Monster 2, following the making of and reaction to this new album?

After a few listens it has grown on me heaps. It did seem a 'tad bland' at first, but I just needed to became more familiar with it before I 'got' it. It is very Fade To Black in terms of the progressions etc, and the production and structure sounds very AJFA cross with Load, which is actually the description I had heard from the reviews of the 6 songs that was floating about a short while ago. I like the fact they are having a crack at a ballad again, since they always had good success with them IMO. Unforgiven III will be interesting, I have heard speculation that it might be an instrumental, as it was rumoured their would be an instrumental on the album.

Their is a soundboard live version of Cyanide on their myspace as well, which is also pretty cool. Sounds like a cross between Eye Of The Beholder, For Whom The Bell Tolls and the chorus is kinda Of Wolf And Man ish. I like it.

James' vocals are the best they have been in years as well. Awesome.

I would like to get the coffin box version of the album and would love to see the whole behind the scenes DVD that comes with it but I am not sure I will fork out for it yet or not. Probably will, but shouldn't hehe.

I know I will only get the 2 disc version, cause it will be all I can afford, you can bet the coffin box version will be ludicrously fucking priced, so people like me will want to buy it but just not
