The Devil You Know

Both MOMD and TGOTE are unlistenable. Not sure what other bush era live stuff he may be talking about?

What's unlistenable about TGOTE? As a Muso I can listen to Among and TGOTE back 2 back no problems. I do not favour any era. In a lot of ways you can argue TGOTE is better, anyone will tell you that you get better at playing the songs with time, so some versions are better. If you actually know anything about music, you would realise the Bush hit 90% of the same note as Joey, Joey is smooth and Bust is slightly gruff, Joey goes a little higher in the screams, thats all. Just drop the "teenager putting on a man act" attitude, for someone your age you show massive amounts of immaturity at times.

Well he did have the original versions to listen to and compare to, melody-wise. I'm sure there were changes and stuff he took liberties with but it's not like he didn't know what they were expecting, melody-wise.

The only template Joey had was the written lyrics and music. That's it. The vocal arrangements and melodies are all his own. In another interview, Scott mentioned that Joey's input (i.e. going outside the range of how the music was originally written, singing in a different key, etc) improved upon the original ideas Scott/Charlie had during the rewriting of the music. Only a few select songs remained as originally composed before Joey was back in the picture.

Joey actually sounds better now than he did before and definitely has a wider vocal range from the previous albums with Anthrax

I'm NOT bitter...I'm waiting...:)
I've ONLY heard two tracks from Anthrax's new "thrash" metal album...and the other one was music wise straight from Bushtrax's catalog...only difference was that it had pop singer...and her voice was thin....:)

...well her melodies - at least on TDYK- are very very radio friendly...I've nothing against good melodies...but too much syrup is always too much...my dentist says....:)

...and what I have read here (well, I'm NOT believing everything)...Anthrax happens to be POPular nowadays...doesn't that make their singer POP singer? They are doing POPular music...for the masses....for $$$ and £££...:)

You missed the point...try again. Please.

No, you missed your own point. You're calling the melody to TDYK syrupy pop and you're saying they're POPular and that Joey is now a POP singer; well "Safe Home" actually WAS written for radio as a pop song...with generic vocals. Did it get played on radio? Nope. I don't know if TDYK is getting played on radio or not because I haven't listened to rock radio in a few years but let's not pretend that Worship Music is going to be a platinum album. And if it is getting air play, who's playing it? Eddie fucking Trunk? Those guys could bukake Eddie and he'd say it was the best thing they'd ever done.

If you want to hear Bush's voice so bad, go on youtube and pull up the current Burger King commercial. He's not coming back, he doesn't want to come back. We get it, you were a fan of Anthrax before Bush was in the band but you don't like Joey. So now you have a choice, spend $13 the day the album comes out and support the band or buy a bunch of Whoppers and tell them John Bush sent you.

TDYK is just a modern version of Anthrax. Anthrax and Metallica for that matter have always had catchy choruses. Think NFL, Idians, Be All End All, Blood, Madhouse, Creeping Death, Puppets, Bellz, Blackened, the list goes on. TDYK has great drums, downpicked guitar, all the stuff metal heads want really. By the way IMFAN09, if you dont consider Potters Field, 1000 Points of Hate, Invisible and Burts "Thrash" then you know nothing or you are deaf. Anthrax and Metallica never ever said "We are Thrash Metal" They had elements of it and that's it. They were labeled by others, thats why bands like that change, to change peoples perception of what they "should" be, the opposite of selling out.

TDYK is getting radio play on my local hard rock radio station  That earlier reply stating Joey's vocals are "thin" on that song is one of the silliest things I've read on this forum :loco:

I read a lot of silly things on this forum....you guys are so fucking serious - aren't you?

So Slayer is pop if thrash is popular? :hahamiddlefinger:
