the dreaded newbie

ok dudes so there I was at the campus Subway, the only place to get some food on my Tuesday/Thursday lunch break.

I've been terribly bored of everything else they have to offer, and don't think I'd be able to stomach one of their pizzas again anytime soon. Cara suggested that I should try the Meatball sub. Today was the day.

So there I am, the place was rather crowded, busy line and all. I order the meatball sub with cheddar on Italian herb and cheese bread, toasted. Then it's time for the condiments. I've never ordered a meatball sub before for exactly this reason.. WHAT DO I GET ON IT?! Nothing seems like a ripoff, so I've gotta get SOMETHING, right?! RIGHT???

So I says to the sandwich artist, "what do you recommend?" She suggests the parmesan cheese, so I comply. Then.. she asks...

"What else??"

I FREEZE UP. I WASN'T READY FOR THIS.

I stare around, none of the toppings would mix well with the meatball and marinara. Then I notice all the customers and employees waiting anxiously , they had no time for this! The pressure was building!

So I say it... "ummmmm .... mayo?"

What had I done! But it was too late.....

tl;dr- :puke:

:OMG:  ewwww! Meatball subs are either great, or your worst nightmare. I don't like Subways meatball subs much though.

I love the raw sound of the tracks you guys have. That, and it's different (+1 in my book) so I suppose it really is all good :p

One thing: The drummer should learn to embellish on his sound. It IS just a rhythm, but it IS still an instrument. He should play it like one :p

Again, thanks. I love a nice raw sound, so I try to go for that with anyone I'm recording or gigging with.

Regarding the drums, which track are you referring to?

It's just a general opinion I have. Alot of the time, drummers will just pound and pound, with no uniqueness to their own style. Oh, I'm just rhythm, this and that, but it's just me really saying that it's a bad thing, it isn't really an issue with anyone else. So far as I know, as long as the music has kicks, and good rhythm with the beat of the song, it's "meh, sounds good" and it blends in.

I'm not a drummer, to say the least, but I do love percussion. I just listen to drums on alot of these new artists songs and I'm like "Man, talent wasted...", you know? The drummer's got good rhythm, in relation to your band and songs, but there's very little emphasis in them that it does just blend in.

In any case, you guys are doing great in general. You know how to write a song that quenches the metal appetite :D

I hear what you're saying, and I agree. Drummers should have dynamic. When you pound and pound, there's nowhere else to go but to take it down a notch, and a lot of them won't do that.

The tunes on my MySpace are a mix of several different bands I've been in. I think the drums on the LOD stuff are the best of the lot.
