The Economy

Palin doesn't bother me in the least. For the most part, my beliefs are in line with hers. I relate to her more the other three clowns that are running. Quite frankly, I wish she was the one at the top of the Republican ticket. She drives people crazy, especially some women, because she is a conservative woman.....I like that about her. Basically, she gives the liberal elites the middle finger! :)

I especially love how she believes people rode to work on dinosaurs.

What? The Flinstones AREN'T a cartoon based on old school reality?

You were the most senior member of your high school/collegiate debate team, weren't you? :p

Way to bring your "A" game to the conversation.

 to not come off as condescending, but im not sure of what I could say to someone who agrees with Palin the most to change his mind on any subject of politics.

Certainly not "gay", since Sarah Palin came just short of saying she didn't believe Gay Couples should be granted the same benefits of a heterosexual couple.
Keeping this on track, that means people like me can never get a tax credit for being in a relationship. Shitty.

Speaking of AIG...

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- The New York Federal Reserve is lending up to $37.8 billion to American International Group to give the troubled insurer access to much-needed cash.

I, for one, plan on writing my congressman tomorrow about this. This is absolutely outrageous. I'd write my senator, but he's too busy telling people the Economy is strong.

Ugh... sorry to hear that happen :erk:. I assume you're not at a local branch but at a regional headquarters?

I'm soooooooo glad my older brother got of the banking business when he did (he was in collections).

Yep, a regional headquarters. We aren't sure if it will be days, weeks, or months before we learn our fate.

The good news is that I already work another job, which will help pick up some slack when I get laid off. So I will *not* be missing PPX -- although I might need to set up a tips-for-paper-towels operation in the small bathroom in the Vinyl to earn some extra CD money.

And good for your brother...I will be definitely be selecting a different career path in the next year or so...

What's with all the hate for Sarah Palin? You know, some of these feminazi's make me laugh. You want women to break through the glass ceiling, and when one tries, you tear her down. Some say "unqualified". Well, I got news for you, she has actually had to run a
state as Governor. Which of the current clown college sniffed a Governor's chair, never mind ran a state? Granted, the economy is in a weakened state. Well, whose fault is it? Wall Street's? The Banks'? Washington's? Try US! How many of us ran up massive amounts of debt? How many of us tried to get a home with no money down? How many of us just HAD to get that plasma TV or big-azz stereo they could ill afford? We, the AMERICAN people acted like a bunch of crack addicts for years. We've been always looking for that fix. All the banks and Washington did was give us the drugs. Nobody told us to mainline. Nobody told us to go to financial "Needle Park". All obama wants to do is give you more of the same narcotics you have been taking. At least Palin and McCain have the courage to tell you "Party's over".

Is this another joke?
Because i'm dreadfully confused.
Almost everything I read about Sarah Palin HAS to be a joke because I don't understand how any human being can take her seriously? And how many times do I have to post this?: http://www.grizzlybay.org/SarahPalinInfoPage.htm

Sorry, when it comes to people like THAT, it just makes me want to vomit. :Puke: When a "feminazi" wants a female president, we don't want one who is a conservative PSYCHO who is anti pro-choice just because she wants more babies to eat. She's a murderer and a radical evangelical who wants to SENSOR BOOKS on ANY sign of evolution and tried to put teaching creationism in schools!!!!! I can't even BEGIN on how much this woman is a freakin' nut case! Please, please, please do not be deceived on what she looks like on television, do some research on her literal history (politically and even before that).

Anyone read the book 1984?

McBush is an old man that will surely not make it 8 years. If that man croaks, i'm fleeing this country if that woman becomes president. Even if Obama don't make it for that long as least Biden is a very intelligent man.

What the hell kind of objective site is 'grizzlybay.org'? It's clear they have an anti-Palin agenda, and moreover a lot of the sources they cite are liberal-slanted websites (Huffington Post, for example).

* shrug *

Those who get their news through filters, tend to reflect same filters.

BTW, I certainly wouldn't call the economy 'strong' by any means, and we will probably see a recession during 4Q 2008 and 1Q 2009, but I agree with McCain that fundamentally, the American economy is resilient and will recover. Even with all the gloom and doom, this is NOTHING like the Great Depression...yet I actually heard some yahoo on CNN invoking those words earlier today.

Anyone here remember the long, hot summer of 1992? Anyone remember how, the following spring, the figures were reexamined and suddenly that recession wasn't as bad, oddly enough, as we were all led to believe?

At least Palin and McCain have the courage to tell you "Party's over".

Is that in line with the "Economy is strong" comment, the "to be rich you need to have 5 million dollars" comment, the "I'll pay you 50 dollars an hour to pick lettuce" comment, or the "I want to spend 300 billion dollars to buy out bad loans, then reduce the principal to what the houses are now worth, and then lower your payment" comment?

I especially like the last one he used at the debate.

You want women to break through the glass ceiling, and when one tries, you tear her down.

I think anyone who wants to vote for Palin or Clinton because they're women, or even for Obama because he's Black need to not vote at all. It's a horrible reason to vote for someone. I'm sorry, but if Sarah Palin was a man, I'd feel the same way, she's a George Bush clone.

How many of us ran up massive amounts of debt?

Me, but luckily, I was able to pay it off.

How many of us tried to get a home with no money down?

Me, and we did it on stated income and have an interest only loan!

How many of us just HAD to get that plasma TV or big-azz stereo they could ill afford?

Oh! oh! Me again!

See though, the thing here is On a household income of $60,000 I was told we could afford a $290,000 house. I KNEW that was rediculious, and that there was no WAY I could actually do that. In the past, the bank merely pre-approved for more than you could afford, but during the boom, I was pressured HARD by everyone to buy more, to buy bigger, to spend spend spend. It was almost degrading how much pressure it was. In the end, we bought what we could afford, no money down, on stated income with an interest only loan. I am now upside down on my loan for $15k, but because I was smarter than most, we pay nearly double what the mortgage tells us to pay so we pay down the principal. We're fortunate to be able to do so, as we are both in better jobs now than we were when we bought the place.

So yes, people who were ill informed are CLEARLY part of the problem, but I don't know if you tried to buy a house/condo in the past 6 years or so, but people in general aren't very strong willed, and succumb easy to constant mental battering.

MinervaPhoto, RMS and Nailz...I guess people like me just drive you crazy don't they?

RMS...eventhough MinervaPhoto and Nailz don't see eye to eye with me, at least they add something to the conversation.

What's gay got to do with anything?

anti pro-choice just because she wants more babies to eat. She's a murderer and a radical evangelical who wants to SENSOR BOOKS on ANY sign of evolution and tried to put teaching creationism in schools!!!!!

Babies to eat? What?

Muderer? Give me a break!

What's wrong with creationism? I'm totally, 100% down with it. :)

Oh well, I guess I'm a radical evangelical too, so be it.

Photo, answer this question for me. Why is everything else in the world acceptable to liberals, except the people that disagree with them? I bet if I introduced myself to you at PPX you'd walk away, right? So much for the "open mindedness" I guess. :erk:

~Brian~

Hey, don't be so quick to assume! :)
You haven't even met the person yet, so you don't know if they would walk away or not, or their open-mindedness based on that since it hasn't even happened :)
