At least Palin and McCain have the courage to tell you "Party's over".
Is that in line with the "Economy is strong" comment, the "to be rich you need to have 5 million dollars" comment, the "I'll pay you 50 dollars an hour to pick lettuce" comment, or the "I want to spend 300 billion dollars to buy out bad loans, then reduce the principal to what the houses are now worth, and then lower your payment" comment?
I especially like the last one he used at the debate.
You want women to break through the glass ceiling, and when one tries, you tear her down.
I think anyone who wants to vote for Palin or Clinton because they're women, or even for Obama because he's Black need to not vote at all. It's a horrible reason to vote for someone. I'm sorry, but if Sarah Palin was a man, I'd feel the same way, she's a George Bush clone.
How many of us ran up massive amounts of debt?
Me, but luckily, I was able to pay it off.
How many of us tried to get a home with no money down?
Me, and we did it on stated income and have an interest only loan!
How many of us just HAD to get that plasma TV or big-azz stereo they could ill afford?
Oh! oh! Me again!
See though, the thing here is On a household income of $60,000 I was told we could afford a $290,000 house. I KNEW that was rediculious, and that there was no WAY I could actually do that. In the past, the bank merely pre-approved for more than you could afford, but during the boom, I was pressured HARD by everyone to buy more, to buy bigger, to spend spend spend. It was almost degrading how much pressure it was. In the end, we bought what we could afford, no money down, on stated income with an interest only loan. I am now upside down on my loan for $15k, but because I was smarter than most, we pay nearly double what the mortgage tells us to pay so we pay down the principal. We're fortunate to be able to do so, as we are both in better jobs now than we were when we bought the place.
So yes, people who were ill informed are CLEARLY part of the problem, but I don't know if you tried to buy a house/condo in the past 6 years or so, but people in general aren't very strong willed, and succumb easy to constant mental battering.
