the ENSLAVED thread mk II

These guys are one of my favorite metal bands along with Opeth. Amazing stuff. I love every single album.

Agreed with everything. Although personally nothing beats Opeth for me, Enslaved constantly give you something new and progessive each time.

I've started the get into Enslaved. I own Vikingligr Veldi/Hordanes Land double-album, and I've been trying to go chronologically.

I love Enslaved. I was listening to Below the Lights the other day still my favourite by them! I just wish they'd kept using growls aswell as the screams and clean vocals...oh well they still rule.

While in a half drunk state, I posted a catty remark about their vocals in another thread intended to wind-up you lot, hehe, however I do really like their music alot more than the majority of other metal bands that I'm familiar with...Ruun has some really catchy riffs but I do think they would sound even better with a deeper more gutteral growl than the higher pitched screaming...just my taste I guess...out of their catalogue, where would be a good place to go from Ruun as this is the only one I have?

Either Below the Lights or ISA.

The Hordanes Land split with Emperor was the first I heard of them.
So fucking good for so long it's incredible. Only predictable in the sense that the next album will be good.

IMO, get everything from Enslaved you can get your hands on. Starting with "Hordanes Land" up to "Runn" this bands development or evolution is just astounding. I think Opeth is a very important band in Metal, but so too is Enslaved. I think it's fucked when I hear people say, "I don't like their musical direction, I prefer their earlier stuff." To each his own, but why would anyone want a band, like Enslaved with all their immense talent, stay in one musical place.

Nicely said. Agreed.
