The Friday Five

1. What's the farthest you've ever traveled to see a band/show/festival?
To Brooklyn

2. What's the farthest you'd be willing to travel?
I guess to Brooklyn... if I had a car, my answer would be different.

3. Which band would you be most willing to travel to see?
Um, I don't know.

4. Ever followed a band to see multiple consecutive dates of a single tour?
No.

5. If you could choose the perfect band playing in the perfect location, which band would it be & where would they play?
Symphony X in my basement :D

5. If you could choose the perfect band playing in the perfect location, which band would it be & where would they play?

1. 150 km (the bands were Symphony X & Blind Guardian)
2. Anywhere in Finland. For Symphony X I could go to neighbour countries.
3. Symphony X
4. No.
5. For Symphony X every location is perfect. The fans just are sometimes too far from perfect.

1. What's the farthest you've ever traveled to see a band/show/festival?

I flew from Albuquerque to Dallas, 655 miles (1055 km) for the first G3 show.

2. What's the farthest you'd be willing to travel?

Depends on the situation at the time, really. Right now with two kids, one less than a year old, I wouldn't travel very far at all. But, five years ago, I would have gone just about anywhere (if I had the money).

3. Which band would you be most willing to travel to see?

I think it would have to be more than one band playing somewhere, or a band I've never seen before. Kamelot, perhaps. But then I answered #5 below differently... go figure.

4. Ever followed a band to see multiple consecutive dates of a single tour?

Yep, Queensryche during Operation: Livecrime.

5. If you could choose the perfect band playing in the perfect location, which band would it be & where would they play?

For me, I had the best time going to local bars in Lubbock to see blues bands play. The Hippie Dogs out of Dallas were always a treat at Stubbs'. Overall, I'd like to see Symphony X play at Red Rocks.

A fitting Five made up by yours truly as I prepare to travel to Cali this morning for BARfest (I'll still have 'net access while I'm away for the weekend, though, so behave yourselves!)..

1) SanDiego - Multiple times for Keneally gigs, back when I could afford to do that 2-3 times a year...

2) I'd go overseas to Sweden Rock, or any other big Euro fest...

3) Almost went to Storan for the FK DVD shoot...I was || this close! If I was looking at a big outdoor Euro fest, it would depend on the lineup...

4) Yep.....Keneally & Iron Maiden (not at the same time)

5) Freak Kitchen down at the beach where I live (second choice would be in Grant Park in Chicago) :heh:

Have fun at the fest, I'll mind the Zoo......

1. I've gone from Philadelphia to NYC to see Kamelot and Stratovarius... It was only a two hour bus ride, so not that far.

2. If I had the time and money, probably Europe or Japan... I love to travel and go to shows.

3. Warmen because they are (possibly) my favorite band and rarely play shows.

4. I saw Yngwie on the Unleash the Fury tour two of the times he came to Pennsylvania.

5. Maybe Warmen in Japan, NYC, or Finland... if I were there, of course.

1. Baarlo, The Netherlands for ProgPower Europe 2006
2. Half the globe
3. Ayreon probably
4. No
5. Pink Floyd at Tampere, Finland obviously :)

2. Anywhere.
3. NIGHTINGALE/RIVERSIDE...Zero Hour! strike that, any band I really love.
4. Yes. Two tours.
5. All the bands from 3, in my basement.

1. Holmdel New Jersey; Ozzfest '05
2. Depends on the place. No backwoods redneck "Git Atta Mah YARD!!!" areas, no 3rd world countries, no fat chicks.
3. SHADOW GALLERY!! Normally, I wouldn't think of them, but just the fact that they don't tour at all makes me want to see them in concert that much more.
4. Nope. I think it's stupid to do that. It's special to see a band live and seeing multiple shows on one tour takes away from the gravity of having them come to your neck of the woods.
5. That's a tuffie. I can't pick just one band.

1. About half an hour... :erk:
2. Probably anywhere within Australia, unless I was going overseas anyway and it coincided with some performance...
3. Probably Dream Theater
4. Nope, I wish...
5. Dream Theater playing in my backyard... Though I'd be very happy with Thebarton Theatre, it's a great venue.

Actually probably Spiral Architect, its such a shame they won't tour any more... :erk: They're an absolutely unbelievable band, and it would just be crazy to actually see them live...

1. I go to Cleveland to see shows all the time. It's about a 3 hour drive, but no one ever comes here so I'm out there a few times a year. I drove 3000 miles to play a show, once.
2. Depends on how good the band is. :)
3. ...Obviously SX.
4. Once, I saw a few Symphony X dates.
5. Symphony X... I'm told their first show in the States was at The Beehive Theater in Pittsburgh. That'd be nice, because that place (when it was open) was like 3 blocks from my house.

1. I've gone to New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts to see shows. I'm not sure which is farthest, since I suck at directions and distance, but I'd guess it's New York since it takes the same amount of time for me to get there my train than it takes for me to get to N.J. or Mass. by car.

2. It depends on who the band is. I lack funds and friends, so I probably wouldn't be willing to go so far that I'd need a hotel.

3. Ayreon, just because I'll most likely never see any of Arjen's bands play live any other way.

4. I saw Opeth twice when they played at Sounds of the Underground, but the dates weren't consecutive...so I guess my answer to this one is "no".

5. Rush, in my backyard or my living room. Either works.

1. A few hundred kilometers, not that far but I had to see Whitesnake!
2. Umm, it depended on my cash situation, but pretty far I guess.
3. Symphony X or Freak Kitchen perhaps, but thank god Symphony X is coming to my hometown, yay!
4. Nope, never.
5. Mhmh.. It would probably be Symphony X and in some very weird location - at our summer cottage perhaps..?

1. What's the farthest you've ever traveled to see a band/show/festival?
about 3 hours away.
2. What's the farthest you'd be willing to travel?
Anywhere is fine.
3. Which band(s) would you be most willing to travel to see?
Wintersun and Ensiferum
4. Ever followed a band to see multiple consecutive dates of a single tour?
YES!, the recent COB USA tour with Amon Amarth.
5. If you could choose the perfect bands playing in the perfect location, which
bands would it be & where would they play?
Wintersun and Ensiferum at Wakken.

I'm a voluntary fireman. Or I used to be before I moved away from my home village. On the highway nearby happened a bad accident where a big truck collided with some cars. The truck container was full of clothes and they were burning. My job was to punch some holes through the metal and inject water into the container with a thin nozzle.

I was on top of the container doing this while the picture was taken.

A woman and two 10-year old girls were going to swim and they were turning away from the highway. The truck driver didn't see them in time (for some strange reasons) and ran over them. The car caught fire. It was the first time I saw dead bodies although it was very difficult to recognize them human anymore. :erk:

I just got out of work and was about to cross the street when I truck came by and was hard to see because it's night and I thought of this story... creeped me out. :erk:

If I ever saw what you saw I would freak out and go into shock and maybe temporarily insane.

Good to hear nothing happened to you.

The things what I saw didn't have any significant influence on me and that scared the hell out of me. Of course I was sad but next day I was like nothing ever happened.

Maybe I am somehow emotionally incomplete. A perfect serial killer material.
