The Gathering+Ulver gathered=great song

Wow, I'm very surprised that Damnation is getting such a warm response here. Almost everyone else I've heard described it as a very pedestrian, tepid, and predictable aping of 70's rock. As for myself, I heard it once and I decided instantly that I was not going to buy it.

The best albums this year, at least to me, are:

Solefald - In Harmonia Universali
AFI - Sing the Sorrow
Nasum - Helvete
Katatonia - Viva Emptiness

Other than Solefald, nothing released this year has inspired me nearly as much as Dredg's release of El Cielo last year.

spot on mate! you're the first one here (besides me) who mentioned Dredg!

El Cielo is a really good album i think, and the first one is as well!

cheers

What's so great about Viva Emptiness? Please, allow me.

Everything is great about the album. The production, the guitars, the heaviness, the vocals, the arrangements, the darkness(o the darkness), melancholy has a strength this time. Katatonia has matured as a band totally, and nobody can stop them now.

Enjoy the Evidence.
