The Haunted--your Thoughts....

Well it seems that I'm in the minority here. I think they are fairly mediocre. The first album was a shredder....they've been on autopilot ever since. Carnal Forge has something that The Haunted is lacking in my opinion, aggression. Go pick up The More You Suffer by Carnal Forge and see for yourself. The riffs on the first haunted album were amazing.....I love that one. But ever since all I can say about newer ones is.....hmm....thats ok.

By the way.....anyone like Non-Exist?? I mean come on.....the guitarist from Andromeda, the old singer from Arch Enemy and the drummer from Defleshed.......that is a hell of a lineup!!

yah, the haunted and Carnal Forge are both fucking great. I love the haunted.

also, both of their former bands that went on to form The haunted/Carnal Forge are good too. They are both great NWOSDM bands, and Slauhgter of the soul is definitely one of my favorite albums....

How many times have you seen The Haunted?
And How many times have you seen Carnal Forge?

My guess is that you've never seen Carnal Forge Live.............?
My point: I have, & The Haunted Rule Live!.....I've seen Carnal Forge(4 times), and they were great!....and their last 2 albums are very good. But The Haunted are superior, & way better. If you had to compare their albums, The Haunted have way better songs...............IMO

I'm interested in seeing how many times you've seen both bands live? To compare and base your opinion of them live, as that is what this thread is about, right?

I've seen them over 20 times, and they crush every time!
THMMDI, is my favorite album by them, I consider them the number one European Thrash Band! If you have'nt seen them live, then your missing out! I also like their Serial Killer themes & Band Logo, & all their Merchandise, they rule! Marco is stronger, and way better than Pantera's Phil Anselmo.....IMO

On CD I think CF is a way more aggressive band. The Haunted loses me on CD. I still say the first one was better.......

Well then, why compare them with Carnal Forge? That is not what this thread is about, you admit that...... So you've seen The Haunted twice, & never seen Carnal Forge(maybe Carnal Forge would bore you too)...... The Haunted lack Agression(ya right).......They bored you, but Opeth is one of your favorites, & that bores me to death, I think Opeth lacks agression, way more than The Haunted ever have..............And another of your favorites, the band Nile, are horrible on CD..........they are just pure noise(too much agression)..........My Point:......Your musical tastes are not consistent(IMO)......


PS The only thing that Carnal Forge does more agressively than The Haunted, is EAT FOOD, the 2 guitar players tear food up alright! Their Huge & way heavier .........................only on a scale of weight measursement!

People don't like the Haunted... And they're admitting it??? WTF? Ban them! Where the hell are the mods? For the love of god, where are they??? It's an emergency! Just ban them forever, and maybe hunt them down and chop their fingers off!

P.S. On a more "complete thought" type note, The Haunted are a bit crushingly brutal, but they're also more influenced by Beethoven and Bach than a lot of bands out there.

The Haunted fucking rip! My favorite is their debut album. There is some very cool stuff on that one. I've seen them live on THMMDI.

BTW, I heard about them on the old TL board and checked them out. I haven't been disappointed yet!

First off I dont listen to Opeth for aggression, that isnt what they are about. Secondly, it appears that it is not ok to have a differing opinion than others on this board. I've alway heard how this forum was great.....Hey DE, you're right, I'm not consistent in my musical tastes.....and I'm proud of that. I don't listen to music soley for aggression. But I know what I like and what I dont. Who cares if I like the Haunted like all of you. First and foremost I'm a music fan......and opinions are just that.......lay off me.....

I wasnt crazy about the new Haunted cd- it wasnt nearly as good as The H made me do it.

As for aggression- Opeth would sound very aggressive to a non metal listener- and opeth has a different sort of aggression sort of cascading form of aggression- their music rises and falls- gets slow then fast alot of buildup- so in a way they are aggressive- just in a far more subtle way than the haunted.

I would just like to take the time to say that Opeth is disjointed, nonsensical, pretentious crap. They can't make up their mind from measure to measure whether they're radio-rock, Gothenburg death, prog metal, or Scandinavian folk, and end up as a hideous amalgamation of all four that makes no sense at all.

And aside from that, they're the most boring, wanky band this side of Dream Theater. Okay, we get it, you can play your instruments well - right on. NOW WRITE A FUCKING SONG!!

Judging by the Metallica threads, you may have something on the "differing opinions are not okay" theory...

Firstly: If you don't listen to Opeth for agression, then why point out that The Haunted Lack it? It's OK for Opeth to be less agressive, but not The Haunted?

Secondly: It is OK to have a differing opinion, your just in the minority on this thread, people will always stick up for for their other favorite bands besides just Testament. The Haunted are a Testament Favorite, by the way. I admire you standing your ground though.

Thirdly: This Forum is great!.......I feel at home here..........and so does your sister!.................:Spin:

Fourthly: I pointed out your musical inconsistency, to show that you can listen to more or less agressive bands, but have pointed out The Haunted, don't have it. Whats up with that, & The Haunted are far from boring.

Fifthly: You stated your opinion, so why should we lay off on our replies, to your statement? Thats not fair............

Sixthly: Carnal Forge is a very good band, they are younger, rawer, less polished, but The Haunted have grown more & been around alot longer.
If you take in the account, At The Gates til the present. They have evolved more thats all, lets see if Carnal Forge will bore you in future releases.


And Finally: I do agree with you(mutually like), on other bands that are in middle ground(between Opeth & Nile), you are an advanced Metalhead, I respect you & your opinions. In fact your very knowledgeable, a good guy,
and its a pleasure to have you on this board to share your insights. But you hit my Haunted nerve, & I will defend!

I think they are a very good band and should get more notice......One more controversial statement....My 2 Favorite bands are Dark Throne and King's X..........
