The Idea of a Tool tribute band - pro's and con's?

Okay well I think the fact that it causes a fair amount of debate makes it clear to me that their is interest, both positive and negative, about the idea.
I also understand your skepticism as I am also quite skeptical but I've always wanted to try it out and see what happens.

In answer to one of your queries, I think we all would like to get under the skin of the music and try and work out how these things are actually constructed. Then we can look at developing our own work. This practice is quite common in all forms of art where the masters would make the artists paint/perform their own work until they had developed to the same level of proficiency. Inevitably though, the pupil would have by then created his own ideas about style and form.

I usually don't care for tribute bands, unless they at least attempt to write some 'original' material. I listen to some Tool, I'm not really a fan but for the record, Tool isn't metal.

I can see that.

Alright, well good luck. Also props on not getting pissy at our incessant Tool bashing (even if deserved).
