Great gig last night! Joe, the merchandise guy, let me borrow his wide-lens camera to film the gig. With his second camera, my wife filmed clips of just Heather for future promotional material. Unfortunately, I gave Joe one of my two tapes instead of the clips of just Heather that my wife took. Hopefully I can get that tape from Joe soon.
Anyway, my wife and I spotted Aja and talked to her a bit before the show. One of the first things she pointed out was the Sootie on Linda's kit that Jenna gave the band. Aja also brought over the new axewoman, Heather, so I could meet her. Then the two of them started talking about how well they synch up as bandmates, but also a goofy story of synching up conversations with each other in their sleep.
Problem Child from Washington, an AC/DC band, opened up. They were awesome! The vocalist and lead guitarists played their roles very well, and I honestly felt like I was at a small gig of the real band's early years. The guy playing Angus was in the full schoolboy uniform, and he opened the show by walking out into the crowd and mooning everyone. The guy playing Bon Scott had the singing voice down very well, and he even spoke like him, too, inbetween songs. He also had Brian Johnson's strut. What I thought was really cool was that the bassist and rhythm guitarist acted just like the real ones by staying in one spot the whole show and just moving up a bit forward to get to the mic to sing backing vocals. They left the spotlight on Angus and Bon/Brian just like in a real gig. The drummer was a fill-in, and I think he did an excellent job. If you know the songs well, you can tell he didn't have the drums perfect, but he did ad lib just fine.
Now, for the Maidens. Next post...
