The "Make Yout Tracks Sound Larger" Just got revamped

Cool! Are there any decent free saturating VSTs? I have JS Magneto, but it doesn't do much.

For tape saturation, check out Virsyn VTape.
It can be subtle if you want to, but you can also really drive things hard
and I love what it can do with drums.

It can also do that lo-fi cassette tape thing really well.

You need a Syncrosoft key for it to work though.
If you own Cubase, you already have it.

Symmetrical clipping sounds more like solid state amps, while assymetrical sounds more like tubes.
Symmetrical clipping is less natural sounding, whereas assymetrical clipping is more natural sounding.

Both have their uses in different places.
Because symmetrical clipping is symmetrical, its better for overdubbing & panning, because assymetrical clipping will produce an odd set of harmonics that might end up fighting in the mix.
But when it comes to lead tones, i think assymetrical clipping wins, as it sounds richer & more warm sounding.
I prefer to use assymetrical clipping for the kind of music that i play, but for thrash & death metal, definitely symmetrical.

Anyways, two different things that has their own unique uses.

I mean, Boss SD-1 does sound pretty unpleasant, whereas TS is THE overdrive pedal.

Do you own both?

Do you have A/Bs of the pedals?

I'm going to be doing this soon, as I do. I like them for different amplifiers, not necessary for different genres. The SD-1 is a pretty monster pedal; don't kick it in the dirt.
