Fame fucks it all up. That and money are the two most terrible things on the planet. They take pictures of you, they say your music is great, you talk to the radio/tv/magazines and you suddenly think that you are somebody. Humans are very stupid. God did a very bad thing when he decided that we should rule this planet. Dogs should do that........

And Bambi's right. Forget about the people. Only music matters.

i'm not influenced by this. i know Slayer ain't the smartest people on earth, and Billy Corgan has an ego big as fuck, but still i like their music. but its kinda disappointing when you like someone's stuff and realise he's a dickhead :mad: even if it don't prevent you to enjoy the music as far as you stay objective :cool:
 
Slaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! Pretty much the only thrash metal band I still listen too. They're amazing. Best band I've seen live also.... And yes, Smashing Pumkins are fine too (RIP).

I'm not really interested in what dickhead rockstars have to offer. I'm bothered about all that stuff nowadays. I feel guilty that I used to like some stuff from Momentary Lapse Of Reason:cry: (sorry Roger). Yous probably think I'm a nobhead now and wont buy my albums:lol: hhehehehehe, irony eh?

i don't mind. whoever can come and play a CD to me. if i like it fine, if i don't too bad. knowing that the drummer's nephew is a nazi won't prevent me to enjoy the music if it's good. but the point is that i'm probably not buying them CDs :rolleyes:
 
Isnt it much better when you meet a musician/writer who turns out to be alright and that? Especially when you're well into their music. I've met Richard D James, Roy Harper, Tom Araya, Ian Mackaye, Bruce Franklin, Xy, Joe Strummer and they were all decent blokes, dead talented too. Then, I know some proper rockstar idiots who talk down to 'fans' but have never even wrote a decent song in their lives.

I haven't met any "star" nor any other bands. As you said sometimes it's better not to know them, then it can be even sad not having met any at all, for there might be some nice mates out there (like you Anathema/Antimatter guys).
I think if you experience that a musician is a dumbhead or arrogant, but it's one of your fave, then it stay in your mind anywhere, even if you think that it is not important if he's a bollock, for the music counts.
Well, then as i said before i haven't met one yet.

i'd better know this, to know who to give respect/credit to : the songwriter who bares his soul in his music, or the karaoke rockstar.

Only people who don´t care about that fact or just aren´t mentally that much into music do tolerate it or simply just don´t know better.. I mean if people are not that much into a band it happens often that they don´t have an idea who´s writing the stuff. And when you take a look to the stage, what do you see first ? ;) If you´re just an autograph hounter then you will get the autograph of exactlly that person as first
Sad actually... such people miss a lot..
 
the main thing about music is sincerity. do you mean it? why do you mean it? etc etc....all rockstar ego should be shot down in flames. you dont have to be a songwriter...you just have to see it for what it is...
