The new chat thread - now with bitter arguing

So recently I decided to stop smoking cigarettes (I stopped with marijuana about 2 months ago), and let me tell you something; it's really fucking hard to stop. You might be saying, "Well Duh," but it isnt as hard as I thought it was going to be. Wish me luck.

Nick

Fucking cops in this country... :heh:

gigahertz, dude.
I'll write gig if I feel like it.

"Gig" is usually meant as gigabyte, or you will be misunderstood... and we [geekz] feel utter pity to those who can't be schooled :heh:

Um, what does it do? Except show videos from youtube? Honestly, I'm way behind in all things geeky.

- a cellphone
- Internet browser which shows pages "as is". Interstingly enough, when pics are decreased to a smaller size, they don't have that awful pixelization/artifacts, they are smooth. goes for mail atatchments too
- mail client
- best video iPod ever (plays music too ;)
- entire surface is a touch screen under durable glass. Supports multitouch (you can pinch photos to zoom in/out).
- virtual keyboard - most of the device is it's screen
- WiFi
- Google maps + traffic reports (no GPS)
- weather and stock widget

I must say this is the most convenient and easy to use gadget I ever held in my hands. Everything is very intuitive, and you hardly need to think what's where (for instance, Blackberry had me puzzled for some time :) Typing is incredibly easy, and i can already write a novel if I need to.

It has some minuses, of course, but it all varies depending on what you want to dow ith it.

Not for business people.

Thanks for the info, now I probably won't look as stupid when the kids start talking about it around here. I don't think I'll ever need one, though. The last time I went to buy a cellphone, I spent fifteen minutes trying to explain why I wanted the oldest model they could find - I'd rather have a simple, durable phone than some multitool with hundreds of functions that I'll never use (like my "state-of-art" work-cellphone, which I hate). I use my cellphone for exactly three purposes: calls, sms and alarm clock.

I guess I'm too old.

:p no you're not too old... i use mine for eacly the same things, and the included "Solitaire" card game when i am bored during classes...

I dont see why i would use my cell phone for internet or sending an email... i guess you have to pay some extra fee for those services, i already pay for the dsl access at home, i dont want to pay twice for the internet, it is already expensive enough now... and reading websites on a tiny phone screen doesnt appeal to me at all... and while you have a phone, i guesss if you really want to tell something to someone, you will rather call him than emailing him :p ...
But I think that this kind of all in one phone could be usefull for businessmen/women who travel often.

Weell seems like it's been a thousand years that I didn't write here.

So many things happened...

But now I'm glad to tell my fellow dt-lovers that... a new dt fan will come to life in 8 months! :D

I like the iPhone so far: it makes calls OK, has a speaker (I HATE when those are used in public, but when you are on hold for 30 minutes and need to do something on your PC meanwhile - it's really useful), I can check all my main mailboxes in a few TOUCHES and speed on carriers network is ~dial-up (tried today for about 2 hours - see clown comment above :p) + plays music and video = does everything I need, so I'm really happy :) usual cell is not enough for me any longer. Now i need to try porn-on-the-go.

Wow, congrats! Remember to play soothing DT-tunes to him/her/it from the very first day on.

-Villain

First day on? :p Babies can hear/understand stuff when they're like 5 months old (not sure though), so she can play DT to the baby from that moment on :) .

What a blessing, to listen to DT before you're even born :headbang: :kickass: . Now that's one lucky baby :)

Congratulations. You should start from the first day with the instrumental songs like Ex Nihilo, Mine is the grandeur, Archetype :zombie: , etc and as soon as it can understand words you can play the others. Maybe at first some slower ones, those with female vocals and so on. I am sure it'll be ready for everything else when it is 1 year old. :)
