The new Nevermore album is Godly

you know what i have not.... but i do not think it would change my mind to be quite honest...i am getting one next weekend... it was not the sound quality really... just did not like it as much as the others. as far as sound quality, i can listen to Venom and love it though the recording sucks.

EoR is just kind of subpar compared to majority of their catalog, but what kind of helped me appreciate EoR a little more was a combination of listening to the new disc, and then re-listening to the remastered mp3's of EoR. There was no way I was going to buy EoR twice, so I burnt myself a copy of the remastered mp3's and placed that disc in the original case. The original shit sounding disc is collecting dust on a shelf somewhere. I think I'm going to grab it the next time I need a beer coaster.

You may be surprised, at just how much life, the improved production breathes into the songs. I too always thought the songs on EoR were a bit lackluster, until I heard the remastered version.

i will look forward to it.. :)
i don't hate it... just would be last in place compared to the others... the others are masterpieces....

so what kinda stuff are you into zinescene?

I'll listen to just about anything from Testament, Death Angel, Exodus, Crimson Glory, Nightwish, Dimmu Borgir, Astral Doors, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Therion...I tend to find that I've listened to a lot of music so it takes something rather unique to spark my interests...perhaps i should have mentioned that I was never a Nevermore fan to begin with.

Give it a few spins. This disc doesn't have the immediate impact of "Dead Heart". However, after a few spins, it begins to reveal itself in an incredible way. Warrell is in top form, Loomis and Smyth play off each other wonderfully and Williams in a f**kin monster. There are no weak songs here.

Zod

I'll have to do that. I'm due for a roadtrip today so I'll grab it on the way out the door.

That, pretty-much, makes you a douchebag...

Either support the album...or the remastered album...or just go away!

Ooh...Sanctuary...now there's a band that deserves some respect...

Any Nevermore fan without their albums just doesn't quite "get it."

So...

You're pretty much all over the place with no concrete tastes in metal with exception to the stuff that just "grabs" you.

Therefore...what the hell do you know?...and why the hell bothering to post in a threat about Nevermore if you're not a fan?

That just sucks!

I respectfully disagree.

He's a "douchebag" because he doesn't feel it's OK for Century Media to screw him? They cut Nevermore's budget by two thirds. They wouldn't allow Nevermore to work in the studio that they had used for "Dead Heart". They wouldn't let Nevermore use the producer they wanted (Sneap). All of this led to the original release being of inferior sound quality. That hardly makes Britt a "douchebag", because he doesn't feel he should have to buy the CD again, from the record company that screwed its own band and its fans. Especially, when you consider that Britt buys tons of CDs, and many from CM artists.

Hmm, I'd disagree, Just because I have diverse tastes doesn't mean I don't know metal. I'd venture to say that I've listened to more metal than 99% of the people that post on here, partially because I've done a fanzine since 1992 and partially since I started getting into metal before you were probably born. If I had to Pigeonhole my taste I'd say they run mostly along Power metal. Blind Guardian, Edguy, Masterplan, Sonata Arctica, Cage, Kamelot, Brainstorm, Power Quest to name but a few of the other bands I enjoy.

Why did I bother to post? Just thought I'd throw in an opposing view to spark some discussion...you obviously didn't see it that way. In fact very few people did try to offer an opposing view (General Zod being the exception)

I do think Nevermore are talented and I have a lot of respect for Jeff Loomis, but despite 5 quality listens I couldn't get into the CD as a whole. (granted I haven't pulled it out in a month)

I challenge you, instead of getting into name calling and slandering, tell me what songs you liked and why it was so exceptional and I'll go back and listen to it again with an open mind. After not listening to it for a month I'm willing to give it a fair shot.

Exactly. When I provide some kind of explanation of where I'm coming from and people shoot back like everything I say is a personal insult with "well you couldn't do any better, so don't talk" or "shut up if you don't have anything good to say" instead of making themselves sound intelligent and writing their own opinion, it really annoys me.

Edit: Also, this isn't the Nevermore forum. He can criticize the album if he wants, and no one is bashing here, so you're the only one being an idiot.

Why is it such a big deal for someone to be "all over the place..."?
Am I not allowed to be a "metal" fan because I like other kinds of music as well?
Throw some talented guitar playing on a cd player, and I'll be happy. I don't care if it's Zappa, Freak Kitchen, SRV, or Gamma Ray. I'm another of the old(er) fans here and have been listening to metal since the 70's, I'll be damned if I'm going to let anyone tell me I'm not a true metal fan because I like a variety of stuff. Bend over, and I'll spank you with my cane! :Smokedev:

There's no need for you to justify your eclectic tastes. In my CD collection, between Dark Tranquillity and Daylight Dies is Miles Davis. In between Gamma Ray and God Dethroned is the Gipsy Kings. In between Vanden Plas and Vintersorg is Stevie Ray Vaughn.

While 90% of my collection is Metal, I enjoy many things.

I think we all have all kinds of music we like and not everyone likes every band...that is what is so cool.. there is always someone who does like it...and someone who does not, but you just respect what other people like. Hell, I am a horror nerd, so I buy horror sound tracks and listen to them quite often.... :)

Hmmm... I would actually put EoR (the remastered version) up way higher than the Nevermore self-titled debut, which I enjoy occasionally, but not all that much. Now if we'ere talking Politics, the In Memory EP, Dead Heart, Dreaming, I agree with ya, though the remastered version really is growing by leaps and bounds the more I listen to it.:)

Also, dead on about Sanctuary - just awesome, awesome stuff featuring an early Warrel Dane with a higher octave range than the Nevermore albums that would follow. "Future Tense" off Into the Mirror Black is incredible.
