well, i assume, the reason is, that markus stock(=ulf theodor schwadorf) is involved into various sideprojekts, sun of the sleepless(blackmetal), the vision bleak(goth rock, quite HIM like) and autumn blaze(dark ambient or whatever )
however, none of these bands reach empyriums artistic level by any means!

@blackspirit: must listen Metrpolis2: Scenes from a Memory, IMHO the best (and most listenable to newbies) Dream Theater ablum!!!
it's the best album I've ever hear/read/caressed/enjoyed/madelovewith/etc etc
