The Obsidian Conspiracy- Matt Smith's Version

i'll go ahead and state for the record that i really like the chorus in matt smith's version, moreso than any of the ones anyone submitted including mine. other than that, he's a good singer but i think the song is suited to more gruff vocals

You guys are so lame on here! Gosh! I'm not a minion of Matt just a big fan. Also, the guy who won was not nearly as good as Matt. Aslo, the chorus is really awesome. That is right Orbsonb.

Also, this guy was a runner up in the contest. He's got some skill. And some people on here say they don't like his band cuz it's Christian?! should that matter? I'm christian and I listen to non-christian stuff.

I mean... if it sounds good!?

Dude it ain't no problem. If I was so offended I'd leave. It's funny I have to say. I'm gonna have to tell Matt. He's gonna laugh.

so you're saying matt would it funny to know that some people don't like his vocals? that seems kind of condescending. i mean, he's a really good singer, but not every good singer has a style that appeals to everyone. that's not something to laugh at, it's just a fact of life

Ryan, I've known Matt for years, was at the very first Theocracy show at Tasty World in Athens, GA, back in 2003, I still have the flyer for it (and have seen them many times around the country since then). While his version is awesome, I have grown quite accustomed to the one that won and agree that it fits better with more harsh or growly vocals, even though I SHOULD be biased. Your fanboy approach is quite over the top and even more than any I have portrayed towards Annihilator or Judas Priest (which is saying something). Having known Matt personally for a while, where you say he would get a kick out of this, I think quite the opposite. I think that he would in fact not get a kick out of it, because it could very well be portrayed as him putting you up to it, which I know he wouldn't do. So, the moral to this story is, stop. Just stop. Go back to the Theocracy board (I don't post there anymore because of people like you) and just stay there. :)

Quite simply Orb's version captured the spirit of Nevermore. It was very "Warrel-esq" which is why in my opinion it is far superior to Matt's

While Matt is a good vocalist, his style does not fit the power or the aggression that is Nevermore. If WD sang like Matt I wouldnt listen to Nevermore period.

As for the "prog-heads" they all have that "I am always right" attitude. It was the same thing on the DT and SymphonyX Boards. Everyone who dosn't agree with them is a an idiot and everyone who doesn't think "tey arz ta bezt ting sinz slicd bredz" is a fag..... Typical prog-head mentality.

This is something I don't quite understand... prog keeps being brought up in regards to this, Theocracy is in no way, shape, or form, a progressive band. They are a power metal band. So, although Ryan definitely isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, nor can he see anyone's point other than his own, it doesn't make him a "prog-head" or Theocracy a progressive band. I hate most progressive metal (not enough balls), so I am by no means taking up for it, but goddamn, if you have to label, at least label right.

Well all of the people I talk to call them Prog. i can definitely say for sure I don't think they are they are nowhere near the caliber of DT, SymphonyX, Kings X, Rush, or Marillion imho

"Well all of the people I talk to call them prog." Really? THAT many people know about and listen to Theocracy? I find that hard to believe. I listen to and enjoy the band (which is quite funny because I am actually anti-christian and anti-religion) but I would hardly consider myself within their legions of fans (because they don't have THAT many). I think this is just another classic case of you talking out of your ass and not really knowing what in the fuck you are talking about.
