The Odyssey

My friend and I have been debating over a part in the song the Odyssey that begins at 20:45 and ends 21:08. In the background of the song there is a fast playing rythmn instrument. It is either a guitar or bass, but I cannot tell. This part reoccurs between the times 21:58 and 22:20, in which he sings the verse, "A contest of valor, to pierce all the rings in a single arrow strike..." So if anyone knows what instrument is playing that primary part of the piece, please reply.

Yeah the tab says it is a guitar, but it sounds like a bass to me.

The sequence is played in 16th notes, tempo 140, pretty fast for a bass, but it is hard to tell. It is either a guitar with effects or a snappy bass sound.

I always believed that to be guitar with delay (played with perfect articulation).

it is a guitar with a delay on it. The guitar plays 8th notes and the delay is set to repeat a dotted 8th later, so a steady 8th note pattern sounds like straight 16th notes. Romeo does something similar in Candlelight Fantasia. The same kinda thing can also be heard in songs like Dream Theater's Lifting Shadows off a Dream and Cacophony's Desert Island.

Was also gonna mention the Candlelight Fantasia part. Very cool sound. I like when Romeo plays on a clean setting.

I'm also a big fan of Romeo's clean parts... Although the incredibly articulated parts like Candlelight are pretty tough to play.

To be more specific it definatly is guitar exept it is picked very close to the neck or even over it to give it that bell like bubble sound

When they played The Odyssey live in the past, Romeo didn't play that part, did he? I can't remember if Pinnella played it or if it just wasn't played at all. I seem to remember Romeo just hitting power chords.
