I was the exact opposite. loved Venom but disliked Maiden.

maybe they are just one of those bands that will click one day... it took me forever to like celtic frost but now i love their stuff

- Sonata Arctica is one of my favorite power metal bands

- I thought The X Factor and Jugulator were good albums

- I can tolerate Lamb of God, Unearth, and Shadows Fall

- I like Duran Duran, Billy Idol, and Animotion

For a music-related confession:
I find the vast majority of people here to have pretty godawful taste in music. I honestly can't understand how anyone could be passionate about music and listen to extreme metal almost exclusively, when there are so many better types of music.

I'm pretty sure that I like most of the 70s prog stuff that you listen to (save for Jethro Tull maybe, though I only listened to their Aqualung album and it sounds dated).

For one, I am not as much into classical metal as I should be. I respect and like the essential albums from Sabbath, Maiden and Priest, but I don't listen to them as much as I should. Also, I don't at all like the proto metal that influenced metal (Led Zeppelin, etc.). I much prefer doom death/extreme doom to trad doom, though I know it should be the other way around for someone with good taste. I am not into Bay Area thrash as much as I should be.
