The photography thread

Girlfriend went away for the weekend and I got bored, we had a cold snap recently and I live an hours drive from a nice accessible mountain, so I grabbed the camera on a whim and took some snaps, here are the ones I liked:

:(

It's 115 outside here, and you have snow!

Went to Switzerland for a few days, took a few shots, nothing special and I had like a few "bad-photo-days"

This was on top of a mountain there (my gf's mom lives there, so I tried to take some "postcard" pics for her):

@Arvoitus - it's just some cheap as shit LED PAR cans from ebay at about $60 a pop, the magic lies in this little badboy : http://www.enttec.com/?main_menu=Products&pn=70570

My main problem lighting wise with music videos has always been consistent lighting between takes, so this solves my problem by replacing a desk with a piece of software that performs the same task, and they give you a VST plugin to control it also. Basically allows me to program lighting runs synced to a click track so I get perfect lighting the same every take. Time consuming, but really handy!

Add a smoke machine, fun times.
That's cool! I'm familiar with the Entec DMX usb box, and i've programmed some lightshows too with the midi-out on my audio interface into a lighting desk.

Did you just used 4 led cans?

Thanks, man! I really appreciate the input. My photography skills have gone through the roof in the last few weeks, it's amazing how much of a difference a calibrated monitor makes. Well, that & upgrading my strobes to White Lightning, from the el-cheapo Chinese brand "Aikiphoto" I've been using the last few years.
Interestingly enough, during the shoot for the photo above, I had the Chinese strobes demoted to lighting a white background.... One of them melted & started smoking near the end of the day. Am I ever glad I upgraded & had spares on site!

FWIW, the above shot was part of a much larger set that will be on guitarworld.com next week!
Its noticeable, and your definitely making huge steps. Keep those pics cumming ... uhh, coming!

Really cool landscape pics, i like the processing on the first picture (though the blacks are a bit odd on my screen).

Random favourites of late

You've captured some great action, but i'm really not a fan of the excessive dutch angle shots. But it's a personal thing, so excuse me ;)

I used some gradient overlays so that may cause the odd blacks on your screen.
Besides that, both were shot with my Canon EOS400D and the kit lense so that probably doesn't really help :D

Probably going to buy me a better cam later this year and a 10-24 or 12-24 lens - if you guys got tipps, especially
lens-wise, that would be great, I am pretty sure about buying the 650D because it's pretty cheap now since Canon
introduced the 700D and it's able to do everything I need.

Thanks alot Jarkko, that was the only shot I got from him, really wanted to shoot him earlier, but there were too many
people, cars and stuff, so I had to wait.

Light was poor so these are at ISO 2000. :guh:

Full-res images are much sharper.
