Here is what you should do. Play some lame easy listening song for the audition or just tell them that is what you are going to play. Then on the day of the show, START playing that song but after about 30 seconds or so switch into whatever death/black metal song you want to do. Keep playing until they pull the plug or drag you off the stage. Now THAT is a show.

Edit: And don't forget to have someone get video footage of the event.

What the hell.... My school wont allow our band to play anything we like in a concert. Its " too much of that hard rock music" aka.... black metal... I think we should be able to play whatever the hell we want to... its a damn concert run by kids at the end of the year..

Just play softer songs. I mean, as long as you like the music, does it really matter? Some viking/folk metal, some old school thrash, ect. The purpose of a band is to please the audience and to please themselves.
