The Thread Where You Talk About Music You Like

^ wrong thread, oh well.

Does anyone else really enjoy Lord Belial -nocturnal beast ?. Not 'grim' like the first 3, still very enjoyable. The album has heavy rythmn and faster sections but it more emphasized on clean guitars that generally create a great too sometimes beautiful atmosphere. Lord Belial is going to have a new album coming out and i'm really looking forward to it.

Dreamscapes of the Perverse's Gignesthai is surprisingly good. The band seem to have a great range for their style (symphonic black metal). I'd recommend it to fans of Emperor and the like.

I've been meaning to hear this for a while, but it seems to be on LP only as of right now. Keep an eye out for future LoC releases. Apparently several albums worth of material was recorded for the project.

Speaking of Leviathan, which releases should I hunt down now that I have Tentacles, Tenth Sub Level, Howl Mockery at the Cross, and the Blackdeath and Xasthur splits. That Blackdeath band sure does suck.

If I listened to every band that was supposedly similar to Emperor, I wouldn't even have time to shower. Can you narrow it down a little?

think Emperor with a more progressive side, occasional clean vocals, epic songwriting, and well thought-out dynamics.

Definitely! I'm not into Leviathan, but Lurker of Chalice is great!

Also, LIK from Sweden is very good. Kinda reminds me of LoC. Death rockish..

Well, mostly death metal bands. I guess I just don't really like a whole lot of death metal from 88-94 from Scandinavia as does the rest of the forum. Apparently these albums are all must own, and they're all worth tracking down on for $50 on ebay.

The only well-liked black metal album that I didn't enjoy much was Weakling.

Am I the only one that enjoys Entombed after Clandestine? Sure it's not death metal and in no way compares to their first two but it still kicks ass.

They haven't really done anything I've absolutely hated since the awful "Same Difference." In fact, a lot of what I've heard from "Morning Star" and "Uprising" is quite good for what it is, and there's never been any even newer tunes I vehemently object to when I've heard them live. I just probably wouldn't invest in all of their newer releases, as I get the impression if you own one or two, you probably have heard them all.
