The Thread Where You Talk About Music You Like

Which album should I get?

The two first ones...I can't find The Gentle Annihilation... ANYWHERE...well, file-sharing that is, fuck buying that, if I can't find it p2p, I'm not exactly expecting to find it used for 5 bucks somewhere...

They're great though; thick, epic death metal. Narrative overload...fantastic concepts/lyrics (when I can understand 'em!), great use of melody among the heavy and bludgeoning riffage...

And if you want a newer band with a newer album that sorta sounds like them, I highly recommend the new Fleshmould (The Lazarus Breed).

Also, everyone (EVERY...FUCKING...ONE) should get the first two In-Quest albums. I'm telling you, they're lost death metal classics. Belgian death metal WINS.

Well, after such an enthusiastic exhaustive reply I'll be dumb not to. All 5 albums are on top of my to hear list. Thanks:headbang:

this forum is so ridiculously enthusiastic over every second rate generic death metal album that i've completely stopped listening to all and any death metal recommendations

when you call every fucking 1992 shit clone band "FORGOTTEN GEM!!!!!" and "UNDERRATED CLASSIC!!!!!!!!" people aren't going to listen after a while

i kind of agree with erik actually, my standards for dm are really high these days, there's an absolute load of cool bands out there but it gets boring quickly, i want stuff that's really amazing and i wouldn't class anything that i hadn't already heard a year and a half ago as amazing

What are some of those amazing albums?

deathcult, descend into the absurd, nespithe, slumber of sullen eyes, obscura, the red in the sky is ours, onward to golgotha, the nocturnal silence, longing for death, beyond sanctorum, soulside journey etc

You're right, to an extent. All of these albums are pretty much timeless classics( I took the liberty of removing the ones that didn't really impress me:cool:) and there are certain periods when I could just listen to these and 30/40+ other records from the same vintage "religiously" for months but sometimes I can't help but feel dissatisfaction with the fact that I'm missing out on so much more, which is why diversity can be good even if the quality of the new stuff you discover isn't particularly stunning

Unlike GoD I knowingly listen to a crapload of insubstantial, unimportant, unoriginal, and merely good music. :kickass:

So do I, but for now it's His Majesty at the Swamp for the 15 millionth time :D
Which reminds that I still haven't heard Hail. Fuck.

I like older entombed and dismember but don't think it's the best euro death metal even though it's first rate. I prefere majority of older swedish and finland death metal over it.

If Evocation released a fullength album in 93 would have taken a big crap on entombed and dismember.

Dismember is very very overrated imo. I do like the first three but the snd and 3rd album still don't compare to 'like an everflowing stream', atleast clandestine is as good as left hand path if not better. Entombed and Dismember sold out fairly early. Other bands expanded going places they never did around the sametime and alittle after.

Am I the only one that enjoys Entombed after Clandestine? Sure it's not death metal and in no way compares to their first two but it still kicks ass.

I like wolverine blues but it's nothing amazing. Morning Star was good but once again not good enough.
