The Thread Where You Talk About Music You Like

Listen to Taking Over.
Now playing! :kickass:

Don't see what's not to like about Overkill. I've had the "Years of Decay" for a while. I listened to "Horrorscope" before this. All great stuff.

hey vvvvvvvv how are monotract and prurient theyre playing here in nov so just wondering if youve heard them

Never heard Monotract, but Prurient is apparently INTENSE live. Dom does two mic feedback manipulation stuff...look him up on YouTube, I guarantee there are vids.

I just listened to some Chrome Division, Shagrath from Dimmu Borgir's side project. They're a traditional heavy metal/rock and roll band and I must say it beats the pants off of Dimmu Borgir.

It's good, but It doesnt come close to Dimmu.

Well, since Dimmu's not that good, yeah...

This Chrome Division stuff is simply more my preferred style. I've never been a big fan of Dimmu, but surrounded by friends who listen to it, I'm bound to like some of it.

Well, we can differ in our opinions then.:)

I wish I was surrounded by friends who listen to it.:erk:

Most of my friends don't listen to much outside mainstream metal.

This later era Overkill stuff is alright. I guess I could do without it, but I'm a completist, so, yeah...

I really enjoyed the Chrome Division album, so I'm with you on that - as for Overkill - for me, they've ALWAYS been the epitomy of "meh".

That's not really saying much. The fucking Spice Girls beat the pants off Dimmu Borgir.

Prurient is good. so is Nicole 12, a smiliar noise act.

Nicole12 isn't THAT much like Dom's solo stuff as Prurient...N12 is Mikko from DSO/Grunt doing power electronics with themes about pedophilia, child porn, rape, etc. over deep drones, pitch-shifted spoken vocals, and manipulated samples (from what I've heard). Prurient does loud feedback manip stuff but he tends to go into PE at times, even into some unclasifiable "harsh noise"-ish territory (on Troubled Sleep, which is fucking good). But they are both worth checking out.

Listen to Ahlzagailzehguh and Knurl though.

How about some The Chasm talk in here.

Fucking insane stuff they make. I don't understand makes a band with nearly everyone musician being absolutely fantastic. My favorite album I have from them is "The Spell of Retribution"
