The Toyota recall ... but really don't you guys feel that technology is evolving at breakneck speed mostly so the hardware and software guys can cash out every few years? (this coming from a pro marketing guy )

Yep, that much is obvious. There are very few true advances in consumer electronics, just re-releasing the same but smaller or different or now in neon colours or whatever.

On the professional side, there are substantial jumps every few years, though there is still a lot of pushing (we don't support this 3 year old device anymore) to get the newest and greatest in order to earn more money.
