The (Un)official write anything you want page

I can not trust the recommendations of ANYONE regarding "black metal" anymore. A friend was screaming "YOU HAVE TO HEAR LITURGY. THESE GUYS ARE AMAZING", and I mistakenly indulged.

Fucking horrendous. People listen to this shit, and honestly sit back and say "WOW"? I cannot believe that.

I had to know what these horrible people looked like...

God... Fucking... Dammit. I blame Wittr.

This is coming from a guy who listens to REALLY GAY MUSIC, btw.

Those fags play in Brooklyn like every weekend ... heck they are playing this week ... should I go see them and yell shit?

This is photo is even worse than what Jerry posted from them some time ago.

Yeah those songs aren't very good, however, you'd almost have to blame Weakling.

These guys seem like a Krallice derivative.

God dammit... I went back in the thread and realized I had (most likely) already listened to them the last time they were mentioned a month and a half ago. Fuck alcohol... coulda saved me a headache.

It would pain me so hard to blame Weakling in any manner though... they didn't mean for any of this to occur. Their intentions were innocent.

I think it's this shit that's been steering me away from listening to metal lately actually. The amount of absolute shit that is being spewed into what is supposed to be "black metal" and "death metal" is just so overwhelming that I've nearly given up. Granted, there are times when I get that glimmer of hope... For instance, listening to the new Arghoslent split this weekend, and listening to The Chasm's new drop... holy fuck, these are great albums. They have fucking balls. But then I'll pick up the next album and run into pure faggoty shit like this Liturgy bullshit. Fuck.

These works are so derivative with exception to Altar of Plagues.

I'm finding more sincerity in bands like Teitanblood and Cobalt that are mixing death metal and Blasphemy, anyways.

I really don't think the music is all that awful. Not very good, but there are some interesting passages.

PS stuff like this Liturgy crap was bound to happen. Styles being hijcaked by people who don't belong is no step towards their extinction though, they'll jump like ticks on the next Kerrang hype flaring their way. The borders of black metal are well-guarded. Most people into Liturgy and the like will never seriously venture into black metal, not beyond some superficial blog-fed knowledge. Elite speaking.

What pisses me off is that soon Rolling Stone and Pitchfork will be saying that Liturgy (never listened to them, never will) are "rejuvenating a dead genre" and praise Dark Funeral and Gorgoroth as forefathers of black metal.

blog, elite, fad.

whatever.

Good music: GOOD. Bad Music: BAD

Fuck scenes and fuck your mom and lets whine less about what the band says and enjoy the music our own way. All art is based on interpretation, and nobody can interpret shit for you (which is probably exactly what hipsters say, but they do the exact opposite).

Was looking at the Hammers of Misfortune LastFm page and noticed this:

Many other media voices praised the album:

* “Unmatched in 2003, The August Engine is easily one of the best records this year and one that has to be heard to truly believe just what talent they really do possess. 9/10” Adrian Bromley, Unrestrained Mag
* “If you don’t like Hammers of Misfortune, you just don’t like Metal.” John Gnesin, digitalmetal.com
* “I definitely recommend this album to anyone who enjoys metal, this is a must have”. Josh Wagers,1340mag.com
* “They are here to save the world from mediocrity. 10/10” JayKeeley, RoyalCarnage.com

Old news?

Thought it was pretty cool.

I just can't figure out if Liturgy are serious ... one can also argue that their non-conforming attitude is very BM.

honestly all they're doing is conforming to a slightly newer trend than the last wave of trend hoppers, do not confuse this with non-conformance.

Non-conformity...?

CA: That's very interesting. Wow. I've never thought of it like that. Please, tell me more.

lol at the HoM reviews ...

speaking of which, the HoM gig was the first one where we first spotted, hipsters, emo kids, etc. being into kind of underground metal.
some of you that were there with me can attest to this.

Hahaha this is so true if they haven't done it already
