The what's going on in Thrash thread

Hey, I was looking into Shadows Fall the other day and Metal Archives lists them as Metalcore in the later years. Does that sound right because I'm not sure I want to listen to a band that's gone metalcore.

I always liked Shadows Fall but they kinda lost me a little bit towards their later outputs.As far as someone claiming that they’re Metalcore that could only be due to the vocals but the rest has always been pretty solid!

I did wonder why redfly mentioned them if they'd gone metalcore. I was starting to wonder if he had a secret he wasn't telling us!

I haven't seen the news this morning, I don't know if we are still the most hated country in the world. The 6pm news last night tried to spin it as the world is against us and that there should be exemptions for people like him.

No, but they did get less heavy for an album. Also the guitarist that's in Act Of Defiance has a pretty good clean voice and they started using it more. So I think that's probably where that opinion comes from. And frankly I'm not big on it. I didn't even buy the last album. I stopped because of the album before as it seemed like they were going more radio. But I wouldn't call it Metalcore. I was watching a show from 2012 last night and they played a few songs from the last album they did and it was pretty heavy.
But. I will say the first 3 albums are really where it's at.

Here's a good show that does have a few songs with the clean vocals in there. I don't really like them. At all. They sound almost like Killswitch Engage, who I would call Metalcore. But it's not formulaic like them. It may be splitting hairs on a few songs. But overall I'd say not Metalcore.

Overall it's a good heavy show. And gets better as it goes I think. But you can judge for yourself.

I wish they get rid of him. Not because of any of this dumb shit. Or political reasons. But if he really is in it just for the check. Fuck him. Get someone who appreciates the band the fans and the legacy and brings in some fire.
