The what's going on in Thrash thread

Oh? That doesn't sound good! I hope all is well in their camp!

Seems to be, they still post of FB and stuff, but there has been so little talk about this album. When it was announced for January there was almost no chatter other than a few studio videos on their FB page. Now there is still no chatter but one site seems to suggest Massacre are releasing it on March 25. Massacre themselves have it listed for 22 July.

That's weird for an album release to be so close and the band doing no press.

Settling doesn't usually make for great albums lol. Or a long lasting line up!

You're right, but with Jeff I find it hard to see it any different way. This covers album was probably always going to have another singer just like his first one did, but when it comes to Annihilator he's always figured he could do it himself and probably save money, despite his fans telling him otherwise. I don't know what Stu's situation with Iced Earth is, I know he quit almost immediately after Jon got arrested, but it appears Jon must own the name or something since he's just released that album people are suggesting is a talk-through or something. I don't see too many other people knocking on Stu's door so an offer from Jeff might be the best he's got and he's the best Jeff can get for the price he's paying.

I've seen Stu being referred to as the Canadian Ripper, that doesn't bode well :)

It's even weirder when one site is listing the release only 2 months away, but a few months ago were saying it was this month!.
Massacre seem to be re-releasing quite a bit of stuff, things like Atrophy's two albums etc. Not even sure if they are a major label any more.

Sadly I have to agree with absolutely everything here. It does come off this way. It's too bad. He's such a good guitar player. But he has several issues that keep him from having a great band and albums.

Oh no! I didn't know it was that bad!!

I'm not sure of the status of Massacre either. All I can say is that I think I really get an album with their name on it.
How was Hatriot for the their previous albums? Any idea? I'm wondering if maybe they are just lazy about certain things or just aren't good at promotion. Like Flotsam used to be.

Yeah I don't really know if it's ego, money or both, but those albums, especially Alice In Hell and Never Never Land had so much better sound and songs even though they had two different singers.

Haha, I don't think I've ever sat down and compared the two.
I do like they way that Wiki has already changed and is now listing both Block and Lombardo as session members now. I don't think Lombardo is actually playing on the entire covers album, but he certainly hasn't signed on for the follow up.

Look at the names on the list
https://massacre-records.com/bands/
Other than Hatriot I don't think I've heard of more than half a dozen of the bands and most of them I've only heard by name.
However there is one band on the list that is worth checking out and that is Septagon. We Only Die Once is almost what Anthrax should have released 3 years ago.

If I remember correctly the last Hatriot album was slow and lacked media attention too. It was 2019 and although they released two singles and sites like Blabber did pick it up the articles were few and far between

Yeah he's got quality issues, line up issues and even if he fixed those two things he's still gotta drop his silliness. some bands can get away with that kind of thing. He hasn't pulled it off.

Man I've been reading so much bs on wiki lately. Id fix it if I weren't so lazy.

You're are just jealous you can't rock a mohawk like he can :p

I was reading an interview with Meatloaf this morning, done 6 months ago, and he was asked if he wanted to speak about the errors on his Wiki page and he refused saying it was too depressing to think of. He said his own page had everything from him being born in Australia to who he was fighting with to people he'd never sung with and his team just got sick of changing it. It's kind of funny too because at the start of the article he talks about COVID and how bad it was for him in the UK when it first broke given all his own health issues. He then spoken briefly about masks and how N95 are the ones to get and how careful he was going to need to be into the future, even though he hoped to tour with whatever restrictions were in place. Almost the complete opposite of all the headlines of the past few weeks since he died. :)

Zets answering the real questions nobody asked :)
Will watch the video soon, but I do kind of agree with him, metal fans are different to pop fans, although I'd reckon genres like Blues and Rap probably have a similar type of fanatical fan and country music certainly does, shit, there is hillbillies everywhere!!
It's funny he says if you were a fan you'll still be a fan (or words to that effect). He obviously doesn't read Blabber comments or forums where people usually lead their post with "Used to love Exodus but..." or " I haven't listened to them since..."

It happens on this forum and Metal Archives as well. The thread about Persona Non Grata on MA was probably 80% people saying similar type things. Not all of them were haters but so many saying how they haven't followed since Bonded, or the 90's etc. On MA pretty much every 80's band has the same sort of thread.
