The what's going on in Thrash thread

I think despite Dave's cancer battle Megadeth are right on that cusp. Fans gave Dave a bit of a break because of his illness but that is wearing a bit thin now and if they don't get something new out soon any momentum they had with Dystopia will be lost. I think Dave knows this and that's also why he's not just working hard on the album but working hard on the PR.

Anthrax haven't had the illness excuse (which is good for them), but they really haven't had any other excuse. If they keep delaying things it really will be a case of only die hard fan will remember them, or care enough to buy their album. I think it's a genuine risk any band faces if they don't keep themselves at the forefront of fans minds, there is too many other bands out there for some people to care about a band that doesn't produce when they say they will.
"Out of site, Out Of Mind!" :tickled:;)

I still don't think bands should be so closed minded about such gigs, but Blitz says it and doesn't come off like a complete dick like the other guys have.

The thing I find interesting is that before the Big 4 Sofia gig a lot of metal heads would never have thought of sitting in a cinema watching a gig from somewhere across the world. Many wouldn't have thought of streaming a live gig so people could watch it live while laying in bed. Yet those things have worked. I understand the idea that metal heads want to be grouped together to sniff each others BO and get covered in other peoples sweat (although I don't think it's just metal heads), but if that can't happen I don't see why any band wouldn't be in for something different to get their name out there. I know the same money can't be expected from live streams (even pay for view streams), or drive ins, but I just don't see why people are not willing to try anything. Perhaps making money in a band isn't as dire as some of them have suggested over the last few years.

I have a feeling if this really goes as long as experts are saying, a lot of bands may change their toon.

Oh I'm sure some of them will start thinking outside the box when money becomes an issue. Some bands might be able to live off royalties but not many of them will.

I'm a bit up in the air with all this estimation stuff. I'm not playing down things but I've heard reports state anything from 12 months to 5 years to never. Even without a cure/remedy/vaccine/whatever I still don't see the entire world staying so closed up for that long. We are supposedly going through our "second wave" now (depending on which expert is talking), and the state premier is really reluctant to go back to lock down. Obviously he will if he has to but as of last weekend when we started getting 10+ new cases a day he didn't close down gyms, didn't close down non essential shops, he banned family gatherings of more than 5 people because their data said it was family transmissions not community transmissions. Right or wrong on the new restrictions can be debated forever but people are getting restless and they've stopped taking the threat so seriously because it's been so long. However the best bit is as the only state going through this supposed second wave not other state wants to come here and all the people from the other states are proving just how ignorant they are by suggesting a Trump wall to surround us!

Oh no lol..will they get Mexico to pay for it? Well our most pro trump states are exploding with cases. They waited till the last minute to close and were the first to reopen.

Not sure an instrumental really tells the story of the pictures, but Kiko is having a bit of fun I guess.
But does it answer the question of who is the better guitarist? :P

Most of the insults against us are probably jokes (although you know there is always a few dicks who take what they say seriously), but it's interesting to see how the other states have turned on us. I don't know if it's the same in America, we kind of hear about it being the pro-Trump states mainly effected but don't hear if the Anti-Trump(?) states berate them and pick on them. To some degree our problems have been that Federal and State governments refuse to agree, but it's more than that. We've accepted something like 1200 overseas travellers in the last 4 weeks and while they are in quarantine at the tax payers expense the security guards (just regular pub type guards no special training) have contracted the virus from some of those travellers. The guards have then spread it further. Should we have refused Australian citizens the right to return home? No of course not, but we can't expect to be virus free when we do allow them back. Other states might have handled some things better, but they haven't had the number of return travellers. We've also had a huge problem with ethnic communities not understanding the stupidly translated government transmissions. Complete ethnic groups have missed out on updates because those updates were not translated into their language/dialect therefore they assumed easing restrictions meant things were getting better. It's a bad oversight, but one that can't be taken back.

Yeah I was surprised by that. Whatever works for him I guess.

Yeah I was surprised too, kind of just makes him a session muso, but we know he's more than that or he wouldn't have been with the band so long. Like you say whatever works for him is good, it just sounds strange :)

At first it was the non pro trump states that were hit the hardest. I think due to the fact that they are densely populated and have big travel hubs. And it fueled the whole "this is a democrat problem or hoax or liberal issue. But it's obviously spread out just like the experts said it would and now those states are paying the price. So yes states have been shat on but it's more on the lines of political leaning. By the ultra conservative conspiracy nuts.
