Ok I'll be first to admit that when I saw this advertised as the 'best Megadeth album since RIP' I was sceptical.
It's obviously not Megadeth, it's obvious who their influences are, and if you can get over the fact that the German singer is not actually trying to copy Dave, this album is pretty darn solid.

Oh shit I like it. He does sound like Dave in many ways.

Yeah same here. Although they can take it way to far. Commuting suicide because they didn't do so good at work and such nonsense. The company is everything mantra.

For sure, there is definitely some strange extremes in that country. I've never had a job I felt so connected too that I wanted to kill myself, there has been plenty of times I've wanted to kill those I worked with. But apparently that's a different kind of disturbed

Yeah he does and at times it really does sound like something Megadeth could have released. They have another album call New World Underground on Spotify and again it's hard, fast and thrashy. The singer still sounds like Dave enough that he could be a clone in some of the songs but the album still has an originality to it. Metal Archives lists them as being active from '95 to the present but they haven't done anything since 2013 by the look of it.

With Mechanix? I don't actually know if the Point Sonic Blank album is available for purchase from shops, the label is a fairly small German label run by a woman who chooses bands she likes that are often out of print. I believe physical copies can be purchased from the bandcamp page. Their first album (which is almost fully repeated as bonus tracks on PSB) seems to be out of print. But the third album New World Underground seems to be available on Amazon. I think PSB is probably better, but I need to listen to NWU again with the thought of whether I'll order it when shipping settles down a bit.

Hmm the only thing I see on Amazon is an album called Regenerator but all they have is the cover image, zero info not even a track listing. So I'm not even sure it's them. They want $66.13 for it. But it does ship from the US.

There seems to be several bands called Mechanix that pop up before the German thrash band. Going by the prices on Amazon I'm not sure the German band has made too many dents in the world searches.

Wow, I don't remember hearing these guys before. They don't sound too bad and they've got quite a back catalogue. Going to have to delve into their past when I get a chance this weekend.

I don't think some artists will ever accept streaming services like Spotify (and the like) and that's their choice. But getting away from all the arguments about whether it should exist, or whether the payments should be higher, the guy makes a valid point about bands producing music.

“There is a narrative fallacy here, combined with the fact that, obviously, some artists that used to do well in the past may not do well in this future landscape, where you can’t record music once every three to four years and think that’s going to be enough,” said Ek

“The artists today that are making it realise that it’s about creating a continuous engagement with their fans. It is about putting the work in, about the storytelling around the album, and about keeping a continuous dialogue with your fans.”​

The more a band produces, the more a band engages with it's fans and the more a band appears to care about it's fans the more fans will engage with them. Artists like Taylor Swift and Katy Perry may be loathsome but they continually engage with their fans in as many ways as possible. Taylor especially spends as much time marketing herself as she does making music. She probably still doesn't make that much money from streaming but she'd be making a shitload more than bands that not only loose massive percentages to record labels, but just release albums when they feel like it and hope they become popular by word of mouth. I don't think Spotify and the like are going anywhere soon, (unless Lars starts up Napster again ) so I think metal bands really need to figure out ways to work with it, not constantly bitch about it.
