The what's going on in Thrash thread

I still haven't listened I got caught up in Call Of Duty all night lol.

That one song linked above is far from the best effort, but it's also very early in their career. If you like we can swap, I'll listen to the song again and you can listen to my daughter read the Barbie book she's reading for school.

Very well thought out. It makes me understand completely. I'm sure I would hear it the same way.
Fucking Scott. Sometimes his scream of wardance sounds really good. Sometimes I wonder why he never fronted a band.

The other thing I've noticed with John's singing is that with Anthrax although he is singing he quite often comes off as speaking forcefully and powerfully, where as in AS he's always a powerhouse singer. I guess it's the different writing styles that influences the way he does it.

Yeah it's not like it's an old age thing with him either because you're right some times he does it so well, even now, but other times it sounds like he needs a throat lozenge.

Yeah same here. Especially with all these get togethers he's having with other people online. At least we don't have to wait long.

I'm not sure how I feel about a punk song. I don't hate punk but to be fair to the movement there is a lot of shitty bands producing a lot of shit music in the punk scene.

Being a rock god under the age of 18 was the annoying bit because in most places we had to stay in the band room and only enter and exit via the back stage door. But very few bouncers cared about our age once they knew who was in the band and who wasn't and providing we didn't get caught drinking outside the band room the pubs rarely cared. Between road crew and being on stage I probably only had to pretend I was 18 for about 18 months, my cuz had to do it for more than 3 years because his first paid gig in a pub was when he was 14.
At least you only had to wait until 18. Add another 3 years here.

It's funny how ages changes all over the place. In different parts of this country the learning to drive (must be done with a licensed driver in the car) starts as low as 15 and a half but only one state allows you to get your full licence before 18 and that's at 17 and a half. However all states agree that you can't handle alcohol until you're 18.

It's weird. His voice is almost like a cross between Alice Cooper and Mustaine but then there's that really high shit. They would be better if they dropped the less thrashy vocals.

I don't think his vocals were quite like that on the other two releases. I'm going to have to go back and check now.

First album sounds more like AK than Mustaine, almost like it's a different guy.....oh that's because it is. The singer for album 2 and 3 is ex-Annhilator which now I know I can't unhear!
Listening to the above track and track 4 from their debut almost sounds like they are recycling riffs too.

Just goes to show how hard it is to truly find a vocalist who really compliments the music, just about every newer band suffers from this.Or is just the vocal phrasing? I don’t know I’m not a musician just seems like it’s ever present these days!

That's a fair statement. For the most part I do like Wreck-Defy and I don't hate the vocals, even the bandcamp production doesn't sound too bad. But the number of bands that just can't seem to get that final element to make them great is quite high these days.

For sure! I don't think Greggy is going to find what he needs unless he joins an older band. Bet that Testament paycheck doesn't look so ban=d now.
