The what's going on in Thrash thread

I don't have any feelings towards Paul. He's a competent drummer and if Kerry wants to make a Slayer 2.0 (which might be all he's capable of doing after all these years) then I'm sure Paul will be great. But he's got the opportunity to do something different, it would be a waste not too at least try. According to some Charlie Benate is the best, can do everything and the sun shines out his arse when he bends over, perhaps Charlie would like a shot with Kerry :)

Someone on the Metal Archives forum suggested Newstead could get on bass. I know he hasn't been full on metal the last few years but he's got the angry growl and mean look that would suit Kerry's band.
I don't really either. But also don't see the point in not having him. I don't think he really makes it anymore Slayer, he doesn't write and he says he wants to try things he couldn't do in Slayer. But I can think of a few drummers that would excite me more. Charlie is a great drummer. but he also has bad carpal tunnel in his wrists. Sometimes I wonder if that's why he doesn't write a full on thrash record anymore.

Newstead would be a good choice background vocal wise. But he's always talking about his back and his neck and shoulder. If he were a horse he'd be put out to pasture :)
I think John Tempesta would be a great choice and I'd love to see him leave the Cult lol. He can full on as well as anyone but also has taste and swing. And hell lets get James Murphy on that second guitar! Then it really won't sound like Slayer :D

Speaking of Charlie he has this band called Anthrax....segue from one topic to the other complete!

With all this talk recently about Joey and John, their styles and the idea that Scott thinks POT flows into SOWN because of the song writing and melodies etc I heard something yesterday that I'd never heard before. I was listening to Kings, now if what Scott says about POT to SOWN being a natural type flow because the songs from earlier paved a path for the later then I think the same thing has been done between WCFYA and Kings. Either that or they watered down Joey's vocals because they were used to writing for John. Not taking anything away from Kings it's a heavy album but the melodies and tunefulness in Joey's voice especially in the song Monster at the End is almost a direct copy of John's melodic tones from SOWN. I don't reckon Joey ever sang those sort of tones pre-POT.
Hmm..Hmmmmmm. Oh nice segue! :p

Dump Paul, dump Charlie. Hey Gene, Kerry needs you.

Yeah I don't think Newstead is in the headspace of metal 100% either but if he was I think he's a good choice. James might be too good for Kerry :) Then again so might Gene. Fuck it lets sack Kerry and keep Gene and James :)

Yes it was :P
But it could well be an important one. Like you suggesting Charlie's wrists could be why they don't do a full on thrash album, maybe the melodic parts of their music are coming through more than we realised. Maybe even it's what Charlie and Scott wanted in the 90's when they sacked Joey without good reason.

Apparently this says "we're in pre-production"

Found this on YT. Apparently it's a studio track from David Wayne's Metal Church album that didn't make the the final cut. As far as I can tell the video has nothing to do with the track but the song is apparently legit. Sounds quite heavy and riffy from what I remember the Metal Church album to be. I don't mind it.
