The what's going on in Thrash thread

TBH we don't fuck around with mains voltage, it's always safety first, but given some of the silly things we've done over the years you could be excused for thinking we do. This house is a steel framed house so I've got to be extra careful up in the roof if I'm playing with power of any kind.
Steel frame? Fucking sweet. If people were smart that’s how they’d build’em in tornado ally here...and Florida

There is ups and downs of a steel frame, no termites, cheaper, heaps easier to build. But there are disadvantages too. Heat dissipation, once the roof warms up the entire frame warms up and therefore so do the walls. Not to the point of unbearable but I have been up in the roof in the heat of summer and touching the frame is like putting your hand in hot water. In the cold the steel also expands and contracts a lot with the weather and you can get a lot of creaking. There is also always the thought potential of electricity through steel. At one point I thought the entire house was live because I felt what I thought was current through the frame when I touched it, but it turned out to be the sweat between my skin and the frame. The sweat was actually coming off me and the heat of the frame was instantly warming making the small beads tingle across my arm. Was quite fucking freaky until I actually worked out what was going on. Overall I'm happy with the steel frame except when I'm in the roof where I do need to be a lot more careful with where I step or put weight.

I think part of the band is. I think Steve, Rick and Stet can still pull it off. In fact I think Stet's done a pretty solid job his playing at Wacken in 2018 looked to be a complete stand out compared to the rest of the band.
I think Stet was a great addition. Plate sucked. But I still think they should have gone a few levels above
Stet. Unger is actually not to bad and the only one I don’t really have a problem with. But with all respect ;) I think Rick fucking sucks. He just pulls off the old stuff ( so technically you are right ):p.. when he’s not fudging it and his solos on Damned if you do are a joke. Even the best of guys are not on par with the classic lineup imo.
Too harsh?

That’s kinda crazy lol. Still, it won’t be blowing away!

No not too harsh. You're right about Rick, what he's done recently is shit but is he ordered or does he do it of his own accord? On stage he looks more like "metal" than Howe and Kurdt do. His playing at Wacken was solid and he pulled out the "metal" when he needed to, but he also played those shitty songs from Damned which had almost zero feeling or emotion. I kind of think he's ordered to play like that but I could be wrong, he might really love it.

I did have higher hopes for Stet in Metal Church but I do think he's under utilised because of the direction Kurdt chose.

We don't get a lot of tornadoes (or hurricanes, or typhoons, or cyclones) in this part of Australia so it's probably a moot point. However I do wonder that since we don't get such wind storms are our houses really built to a standard to withstand such things. I'm on a hill and the house faces west which is where most of the wind comes from around here so if anything the wind will push itself up the hill and just lift the house off the ground and blow it away like in the movies. But hey if the frame stays together it might land in one piece too!!

I guess the only real answer to all of this is. Kurdt sucks. For real everything is on him!

I liked the bit in the article about Paul tipping beer over his head because he wanted to leave. Perhaps he should be thankful it wasn't horse piss :)
Lol I was thinking about that as well. My thoughts are, what the hell else was he going to do but take it? Like there was another option of kicking Paul's ass? lol. No.

Well, I guess I was thinking the metals supports were in concrete?

I was wondering if it was even true. I'm sure Paul was capable of it, but is Kirk trying to be the big man here and suggesting Paul/anyone from the band was so pissed off at his departure they couldn't compose themselves but he could be the king of cool when they did something?

Well they might be, but I've seen movies, houses just up and take off in high wind. I know Mythbusters tested structures in high winds, but they just use science to back up their findings it's not like the movie world.

Yeah I agree with you, it also seems strange that in all these years and people I've never read of or heard anyone else mention this.

I notice that Kirk hasn't had any response in the media to Gary's comments about stealing his riff, yet he's okay telling the world that a dead man poured beer over his head and he was too cool to retaliate.

Oh I forgot about that. Kirk should probably go back to his usual M.O. of keeping his mouth shut.
Paul could still kick his ass.
