The what's going on in Thrash thread

Man Anthrax has kissed so much Metallica ass in anything having to do with their history or a thrash doc for 40 years and they couldn't get anyone from Metallica to speak about them except Rob. I find that very, very funny.
Scott got a skinned nose for no reason.

I would only watch it if Lars got to comment. :)

But you're right, Lars and to a lesser extent James have appeared in just about every thrash doco ever made, be it a small Q&A or heaps of small cuts one of them is always there, to not get anything from them must really suck.

Lars is more likely to be in coldplay anniversary show at this point.

Yeah it's gotta burn. Couldn't even be bothered to record anything lol. I bet they even had to go thru management. You know they tried to get them!

Ouch!!! The only think worse than that would be a Nickleback doco :)

I know some people will be hanging out for this live stream and good for them but I think Anthrax have really burnt a lot of bridges with fans, not just with the pandemic but in the past 5-10 years. They'll never be what they once were and soon it will only be die hard fans left.

Fucking hell shopping is annoying again. Masks, sign ins, people wiping everything but your arse, and they say our lockdown rules were relaxed, what a joke. I'm not down playing this thing, and I'm not anti-government or anti-vax or even anti-mask but fucking hell the closest case is 2 hours away and we haven't seen a case for over a year, it's just fucking annoying now.

So with all that I got the shits up and decided I'd support the local bloke and buy Flotz here and download the bonus track when it's out there. Listening now!!

At least you won in the end today! I downloaded it like I said the other day but still haven’t listened to it yet. I also burned a copy for the vehicle so tomorrow on my to my new primary doctor visit gonna crank it!Hope your liking it and Redfly receives his copy on time.

If I tell you it's terrible no matter how good or bad it is you'll be pleasantly surprised :)

Fucking hell now the school is telling me my kid was absent for multiple days during home schooling because they stupid fucking system doesn't work properly. I wouldn't usually give a shit about 2 days of absences because she's done the work, which she couldn't have gotten if she wasn't present online, but in the advance class absences are counted against them. She'll be fine if it doesn't happen for the rest of the year but if she genuinely gets sick she's already lost several days because of their fuck up!

It is over the top stupid. What shits me is that these schools are suppose to be up with technology and clever enough to teach our kids but when their own technology fails they wont accept it.

It's not, and the teachers really don't like being proven wrong by parents, they like it less when they are told they are wrong by the kids :)

My kids primary school IT teacher taught my sister in law in primary school more than 30 years ago, she's been teaching so long she saw the invention of the abacus yet she was the only one qualified to teach IT. I'm all for old people getting jobs but sheesh a 65 year old computer teacher? It's lucky they were kids!!

I think that's hilarious too.

Scott's whole world is about schmoozing with stars. I wish he spent half as much time writing good riffs.

As for me, I am very interested in the live stream although $15 is too steep for me. I wish all bands did special shows of deep cuts. I would pay $15 for Exodus or Testament but Anthrax isn't as good to me.

No way I'll buy their new album.

Here are some songs I'd love to hear Anthrax play again (frankly they need to drop all the covers and play these instead from now on):
Panic
Armed and Dangerous
Aftershock
Imitation of Life (they did this on a recent quarantine video actually)
Make Me Laugh
Who Cares Wins
Finale
Time
Belly of the Beast

No the bottom line is that Gene, by his own reports, has been busier during covid than he's been in years and he said from day one after Testament got off the road that while any restrictions remained DA wouldn't be recorded, only written when time permits. Sure it looks like he's had time to make an album for DA but the conditions for that have not been ideal. Read his interviews whether it's right or wrong for other bands DA only works for them when all circumstances are right and during covid that hasn't been able to happen.

I've probably read/listened to all the Gene interviews. Was listening to some yesterday as a matter of fact.

I think DA is probably the only legacy band (except maybe Exodus and Megadeth) that could still really create a crushing thrash album these days. That's why I've been looking forward to their comeback for so many years. I do have to say that their most recent output, that Creeping Death cover song, is the single worst song they've ever recorded. It should've died in the studio never to see the light of day.

BTW, Gene said in 2019 interviews that they had 5-6 songs written even back then, not to mention that he had written several songs for a new album on his own when DA dissolved back in 92 (the infamous Atrocity Exhibition demo). I'm going to go ahead and call it the Chinese Democracy of thrash metal, except that CD eventually did get released. Even Watchtower eventually released new material after 15 years. It doesn't get easier to play thrash metal the longer time goes on. I guarantee if there was money on the table for it then it would already have been released. It's sad the state of the music industry these days.

I'd really like to know what these deep cuts are if I'm going to pay for that stream. And I'd have a lot more incentive to buy it if I could keep the show.
So you're not going to buy the album no matter what?
