The what's going on in Thrash thread

Gene's still talking about it and it and he gets together with at least 2 of the band every week or so from what he last said. With Testament not touring he's still claiming Dark Angel and the project with his wife to be priorities but distance is killing one and time is killing the other because he's still doing about 40000 other projects.
If he's really working with some of them every other week we should have an album! Gene seems to work so quick.

I've never heard anything by them. How good can they be?! ... JK. I'm gonna check them out :). I just thought they were power metal.

Early on the were speedier, on their first album there is songs that nearly sound like they were penned by Metallica. By the 00's they moved more to power metal only but they still sound more like Helloween than a power metal band like Manowar.

From memory what he said was that he and Ron (maybe) were close to each other and they did a lot of work between writing and recording, but the other two guys were states away and that made it hard for them to work as a band because they've always been a band that sits down together rather than work in isolation. He's got a lot of mini projects on, guest spots, recordings, production, etc and I also would mind betting he's getting his nose in with Brandon for the new Dethklok

Gene only does drums in these other bands, in DA he writes lyrics, guitar riffs, and vocal melodies too.

I still think the Covid period was the ideal time to finish the DA writing/recording. I guarantee Gene was a place to track his drums at home and a ProTools install that he could track guitars with, just like everyone does these days. If they didn't finish it then, I don't believe they ever will. Now shows are starting up again. Opportunity missed.

The bottom line is that other bands pay and a new album from DA doesn't. I'm sure they'll make some pocket change from the occasional fest but albums take a ton of work for little return so I think it will never be completed. It's a risk to tarnish their legacy so many years later as old men anyway.

There was a snippet of a new DA track posted many years ago by their current bassist Danyael Williams. It was pretty good. Fast track that sounded like something from Time Does Not Heal.

I don’t know. They were already booked to headline at some festivals before the pandemic. I think it will pay off for them. Hell the second they announce a pre order I’m going to order completely unheard. And I don’t really consider them old men. If you’ve got a fire, you’ve got a fire. Ya know?
This was the perfect time to do it. At least from the outside. But I’m sure Gene is always booked for some things pandemic or not.
