The what's going on in Thrash thread

Damn how does that work, can’t you just sign in now and track it?Is it a jewel case or the damn digi pack? I am still gonna get the jap version when it becomes available.

Is it confirmed that the Jap version will have extra tracks or are you just working on past experience?

I asked Steve Conley a while back and he confirmed that there would be but he said he didn’t remember the name of the track. The last two did as well as most of their releases so we’ll see!

Yeah I figured they would too based on previous albums, I just wasn't sure if it had been confirmed.
Tomorrow is shopping day so I'll make a decision between now and then as to whether I buy it locally or buy the Jap import.

I rarely did both, and partly because we often got "australian tour editions" of albums 12 months after an album release. But when there is an album with a bonus for about the same price released at the same time as the album I'll definitely look at the extra. The only thing that pisses me off with some of those GetMetal releases that pop up a day or two early is that sometimes they aren't the complete albums. Most of the time they are but I've been caught with a few over the years where they are missing a song, or poor quality and it sucks to hear an album you really want like that first.

Yeah that would be a little aggravating and a waste of time you’re right!

I'm currently listening to the Blind Guardian discog for a poll thread in another part of the forum so I'm not rushed for Flotz, but I'll probably give it a listen later today.

For me BG have some real hit and miss stuff. Their early stuff was fast and powerful, although the vocals were a bit weak at times. Then they dipped off a bit until they found their power metal roots then they dipped off again. I didn't mind their orchestral album a few years back but it went for too long.

I’ve watched some clips here and there of them but honestly I’m not very familiar with them.

Hansi is one hell of a powerful singer and the music he writes is very full and powerful, even his stuff with Demon's and Wizards is pretty powerful. BG are touted as one of the most influential speed metal and power metal bands for a reason, but they are far from perfect. Their own influences range from Helloween to Metallica to Testament and you can hear each band in different parts of their albums. They are the sort of band that could easily have 2 or 3 best of albums but none of the albums are 10's in their own right.

Man you should see the confirmation they sent me! It reads like some sort of Cold War spy doc!
All sorts of warnings in red type and if it's gotten to the wrong person all files should destroyed immediately lol. Thanks Germany.

It looks like we might be let out of lockdown tonight (Melbourne isn't but out in the country where we've had zero cases for more than 12 months we apparently earn the right to get let out as long as wear face masks and stay away from other people) so I should be able to buy it tomorrow when it's released but I might have to preview it anyway.
Nice!

It's been ongoing for a long time. I hope that's not the case. :yell:

Gene's still talking about it and it and he gets together with at least 2 of the band every week or so from what he last said. With Testament not touring he's still claiming Dark Angel and the project with his wife to be priorities but distance is killing one and time is killing the other because he's still doing about 40000 other projects.

I've never heard anything by them. How good can they be?! ... JK. I'm gonna check them out :). I just thought they were power metal.
