The what's going on in Thrash thread

Gene only does drums in these other bands, in DA he writes lyrics, guitar riffs, and vocal melodies too.

I still think the Covid period was the ideal time to finish the DA writing/recording. I guarantee Gene was a place to track his drums at home and a ProTools install that he could track guitars with, just like everyone does these days. If they didn't finish it then, I don't believe they ever will. Now shows are starting up again. Opportunity missed.

The bottom line is that other bands pay and a new album from DA doesn't. I'm sure they'll make some pocket change from the occasional fest but albums take a ton of work for little return so I think it will never be completed. It's a risk to tarnish their legacy so many years later as old men anyway.

There was a snippet of a new DA track posted many years ago by their current bassist Danyael Williams. It was pretty good. Fast track that sounded like something from Time Does Not Heal.

No the bottom line is that Gene, by his own reports, has been busier during covid than he's been in years and he said from day one after Testament got off the road that while any restrictions remained DA wouldn't be recorded, only written when time permits. Sure it looks like he's had time to make an album for DA but the conditions for that have not been ideal. Read his interviews whether it's right or wrong for other bands DA only works for them when all circumstances are right and during covid that hasn't been able to happen.

We will see. Slammed has pointed me toward the early thrasher albums.

Well in defence of BG it was mentioned they were speed/power that bordered on thrash in some songs but they did quickly change.

After finishing their discog yesterday I have to say that their 2000 onwards albums really aren't that great. I'm sure they will have their fans, and that's fine, but for me Hansi was trying way too hard to make those power metal epic songs. Even the orchestral one (in 2019) while the music and the sound is full on and powerful it's quite long and drags on, but Hansi obviously still knows how to write a powerful song.

Oh yeah I forgot about that interview. He was stuffed with work! I am so looking forward to hearing what Gene can do when he can do exactly what he wants!

He was even speaking about a return to Zimmers in Canada but I'm pretty sure that's off the books now because they have a full time drummer I believe.

To be fair to Jnr I think he's way better than being in that cover band.

Lets face it though as soon as KK's band starts misfiring he'll do anything, including inviting Jnr, if it keeps him in the news.
Oh definitely. I think so too.

Yeah I wouldn't doubt KK's band has a few line up changes in their future.
