So I was reading a few comments about the new Exodus song (which I know is a mistake) and it seems like KK Downing isn't the only person to hate Andy Sneap, everyone does! The comments go from "everything he does sounds the same", to "he makes Saxon sound like Megadeth and Megadeth sound like Overkill", which is just a more descriptive way of again saying everything he does sounds the same. They bitch about his layering and his overall production and they bitch about new albums not sounding like old albums (yet at the same time sounding the same, go figure!)
Maybe some of the comments are justified after all if a guy produces 100 albums and he has a style that style will more than likely come out similarly on the majority of albums produced. But do they all sound the same, or just similar?
For me after only two listens I think the new Exodus is about where I kind of expected them to be. I do hope there is something heavier on offer but this song seems to follow on from Blood In Blood Out. Sure I can hear Sneap's production but to me it doesn't sound enough like the Grinding Wheel, or Wings Of War that I immediately think he's made Exodus into an Overkill cover band (or vice versa). I also don't immediately think this is Mega-Exodus Endgame either. But to me it does scream Exodus. Maybe I'm missing something
Of course there is also a select few who also hate the lyrics, the vocals, the solos and the guitar playing. There are those who think the songs are too long, too short, not fast enough and too fast. So generally I accept that everyone reviewing this one song is an idiot, but should I hate Sneap too?
