The what's going on in Thrash thread

Well I guess that's why I like Chuck's so much. He's got actual power and tone in his growls and they sound evil as hell.
He doesn't get enough credit. People say he started using it with Dog Faced Gods. But really he's been using it since the first album in 87, including Reign Of Terror. Just not for full songs.
He's actually a little bit of a pioneer in it. At least in Thrash.

You're just scared to say anything against Chuck in case he gets into Destroyermode and sets his sights on you :p

Oh yeah for sure, in thrash he definitely is one of the early adopters of it and over the years he has used his voice pretty well to suit the songs. He's done it a lot better than other vocalists in thrash have.

Lol I haven't watched it yet. The guy starts off saying what a huge Machine Head fan he is and I instantly rolled my eyes and lost interest lol.

I skimmed it and there doesn't appear to be anything new in it. The EP will still be 5 originals and a cover which he wont reveal, the rest seems to be the standard up talk to keep people interested.

Oh the camera guy in the Metallica show finally did make it to the front of the stage around 136..ish? for ONE.
Man does Lars fuckin lame it on the double bass part.

I forgot to go back and watch the rest of that video. I got about 45 minute into it and had to go and get the kids.
One is not my favourite Metallica song but it was the song that helped them get their big break so I understand why they play it, what I don't understand is why they fuck it up so often. It's one of the worst songs live and Lars often seems to be trying too hard when he's playing it.

Some guy who used to play in Megadeth apparently!

Point 4 connects with something in Nick's book. He thinks local crews in Japan are the best crews ever. Obviously in certain places, certain gigs bands have to use varying numbers of local crew to do the show but apparently in Japan as early as 15 years ago the crews left nothing to chance between sound check and the gig. They took photos of absolutely every setting on the desks, all the amp setting, everything that could possibly be changed they took a photo of so that when each band played they simply compared the photos to the item and set what they needed too.

OH yeah and one other thing I got from that video with Phil above. Apparently years ago Bobby tried to form a band with Perry Strickland and Billy Milano. I hadn't heard about that before, I wonder what sort of music they would have created.

Oh man you ain't kidding. It's nearly impossible to find a really good live version of it.

There's something to be said for the Japanese being super anal retentive lol.

Who is Perry Strickland? I couldn't imagine anyone getting along with Milano for too long for some reason.

As much as I wouldn't want to live there I think there is quite a few people in this country that could learn from the work ethic of Japanese workers.

The current drummer for Vio-lence.
Maybe Bobby could have given Billy some of Satan's taint and quietened the little mouthpiece down :)

Ok I'll be first to admit that when I saw this advertised as the 'best Megadeth album since RIP' I was sceptical.
It's obviously not Megadeth, it's obvious who their influences are, and if you can get over the fact that the German singer is not actually trying to copy Dave, this album is pretty darn solid.

Yeah same here. Although they can take it way to far. Commuting suicide because they didn't do so good at work and such nonsense. The company is everything mantra.
