The what's going on in Thrash thread

But every stupid old cheesy movie gets a new high def release right?

Yeah but movies are important :) In this case I'm not sure if the new releases are high def but from a band that had one LP of 10 songs which was not actually released and one EP with some of those 10 songs on it they spawned a 49 track Anthology and a 20 track 'collection' both of which also seem to be out of print. That's not a bad effort really....or it's really bad luck for them.

It's a killer album though.

It was a prolific time for all those bands though. A time where they were not just establishing themselves but also desperate to make money and a career. I can't help thinking that many of the bands out of that time lost something when they did break through and money became so much easier to get. I'm not suggesting they don't deserve it or shouldn't have it but when they were singing for their supper, so to speak, the output seemed to have more power and passion behind it.

I agree that once all metal bands weren't hungry anymore their output became less frequent and their music got weak. Money played a role but so did substances. Some people decided they like substances more than writing music.

I think Mustaine was much more productive than most though. Metallica even used several of his songs too, and on top of that he had pretty much completed 3 albums worth of material and started playing it out live. Not to mention that the songs were VERY good.

Looking through old set lists of metal bands online I can't see anyone else who's ever been that productive.

Still haven’t listened to the last one.

I'll be honest, I don't like it.

Sure it's heavy but none of the songs stick with me. I don't think Altus+Holt are as good as the H-team. It's great to have Zetro back though.

I'm addicted to watching interviews on Zetro's YouTube channel.

I wont take anything away from Dave because the guy has a talent for what he does but I also think he was very lucky in those early years. We all know how the drugs effected him, how much of a dick he could really be and how he treated people but either because of the drugs or despite being on them he wrote some of the most important songs in thrash. Whether it was luck that all that talent shone through the drugs or whether it was luck that kept him alive I don't know but I think lady luck was looking after him.

He was actually talking about Metal Church's last album. Neither redfly or I particularly like what Kurdt has done with MC in recent years.

Oh sorry.

I agree. :)

Saw them live with Ronny on vocals and it was an awesome show.

In the end David Wayne was right that Kurdt doesn't really want to be METAL anymore. Wayne's solo album is better than most Metal Church albums anyway. Reverend's debut EP and final demo are as well.

Reverend's stuff is pretty good, but I do think Wayne's solo album was better than what he did with Reverend. Of course any of it is better than what Kurdt has done to Metal Church.
The thing that annoys me the most is that Kurdt has his ballet band (whatever they fuck they called themselves) where he could play all the pop rocks music he desires, yet he seems to want to wipe out Metal Church. If he doesn't want to play metal step back and don't ruin the name.

He needs to start his own band.

What's with the last paragraph in that article?
"Robello plays guitar in DDP"
I thought DDP was disbanded and they weren't going to do anything more?
