The what's going on in Thrash thread

I dunno. I'm far from an audiophile. I listen to stuff on a cheap android MP3 player, a cheap Android car unit and a 30 year old Yamaha stereo. It's a long time since I was in a studio to hear studio quality and I doubt my hearing these days would be good enough to do studios justice anyway.

I've got the original RIP master tapes (all lossless recordings), each track, guitar, drums, bass, lead guitar, lead vox, backing vox all separate files and sure I can hear a difference between those and the CD but I'm not convinced it's better. Thousands of others would be, some probably just because they are told it's the tracks straight off the desk, but hearing is such an individual thing and just because I don't think the studio master is better doesn't make me wrong, just different.
You have the RIP masters? That's cool!

Starting to wonder about Megadeth's producer too. I didn't read the article on Blabber because I'm sick of Jnr's waffle but the headline for the same article on Bravewords indicated a new album in 2021 is only a hope of Jnr's. New music is almost certain but a new album isn't any more than hopefully in 2021. That's going to be a major piss off if they too fuck around even more.

Would an EQ help in these cases?

Not in the car or on the computer they are both basic players with basic speakers. There will be a difference but it wont be like chalk and cheese difference. The stereo has a decent EQ, I spent a shitload on it 30 years ago, (it was up over $4k when I got it) and it was nearly top of the range at the time so the EQ does make a difference but I just don't get a chance to listen to stuff on the stereo lately.

It actually seems like it's a dying thing with everyone except the doof doof crowd. When I was young you could walk just about any street and hear someone playing music or on the weekend they'd be listening to the football on the radio. These days it's almost rare to hear music coming from anywhere. I know of a few houses with drummers, but even those I only hear once every few weeks.

Let me predict the future. In the future I see a Mustaine biopic/doco in the making. An open and entirely honest look at Megadeth and its members with exclusive access to the people who lived through the experience telling the truth like you've never seen it before.

If I had a preference Nick's manager wouldn't have a big role in this doco. Obviously I don't know him but it appears to me that Rob still has an axe to grind with Mustaine and he's used Nick as a pedestal to do that. Dave proved that he can't let Nick have the final say and I'm sure it will be the same with this doco but to me there is no point kicking Mustaine just for the sake of it. This is Nick's story, talk about the man, talk about his faults, talk about his mistakes, talk about his abilities and his success after Megadeth, but most of all focus on Nick and not making headlines.

I used to have an old stereo in the garage so I could listen to anything while I was outside but it quickly became nothing more than a dust collector so I put it in storage. I have got a bluetooth speaker I can run my phone off which I could use outside but in general these days I don't even bother.

The new (sort of because it's mix of old, new and live) album from German thrashers Darkness is pretty good. The guys voice takes a little bit to get used to because it's a bit like Sodom crossed with someone really, really angry but the cover of Skid Row's Slave To The Grind is pretty darn good.

Totally buying this! :D. I wanna see his videos. We were just wondering about them.
