new order would kick total ass if it weren't for

1. nobody's fault (but it's not on the LP so we'll consider it a bonus track and disregard)
2. too many stupid fails-at-being-atmospheric interludes

but yes, all the actual songs are really good

trial by fiyah and disciples of the watch are only like totally awesome. but whatever.

i like nobodys fault. its weird and i dont like the "im sorry" crap so much. but it still kinda rocks.

Oh yeah you're right, because Morbid Visions (and Bestial Devastation) was only a masterpiece of sinister death metal, released way back in 1986, wheras Testament were really pushing the boat out with text-book chugging and basic melodies which by 1988 other bands had already pioneered around half a decade earlier. Duh.

bestial devastation is far better than morbid visions
morbid visions is mostly uninspired and not half as innovative as BD was because it basically just rehashes those ideas except less sinister, less extreme, less well written, even sloppier performed

every other pre-chaos ad sepultura release KILLS morbid visions

also the new order might be overrated by some and i never claimed they were anywhere close to innovative but it's a quality album mate

I included Bestial Devastation, I agree it's at least as great. But as for being less sloppy, not really. And Morbid Visions may not be as innovative, but that hardly says much - it was the same band, they were building on something they themselves had done! And as for being less well written; pretty impossible to substantiate.

And as for every other pre-Chaos AD killing MA...if you like more straightforward thrash metal then sure. I still argue that none of them capture the sinister edge of BD and MA. But again, even so, it's the SAME band!

As for Testament, they are the definition of thrash mediocrity to me. What were they building on apart from other people's work? I don't even rate The New Order at all, I find it utterly dull, regardless of the excellent musicianship.
