Personally, I think Chaos Moon fits the spot perfectly. Too bad they only get about 40 minutes, their ambient pieces are so fucking awesome.

Indeed. I raised that point before and was told they didn't have a live keyboard player in order to properly perform those songs. The last I saw, Arse Magma volunteered to play though, so you never know.

I just came in to post this exact same comment. "Epos" was in my top 3 of 2007 and "Silk Road" is likely going to do the same for 2008. Not many bands impress me like that with back-to-back releases.

Darkestrah remind me of Drudkh, though the good news is they actually play live. Yeah, HC4 beckons.
