This Year's Ozzfest

What, just stuff from debut through to Piece of Mind? Nah, doubt it. That would be too good to be true.

For OzzFest audience, they'll do a greatest hits set I reckon.

This thing will sell out in a day. You can almost divide the entire audience between Sabbath and Maiden fans, the rest is gravy.

So where are all the nu-Metal fans today I wonder? Did they start listening to pop? I mean, technically speaking, they're homeless gromits.

Sharon probably called up Ian and said, look, you guys have been selling for shit lately, but some fans will come out if you reunite at least temporarily with Belladona.

Yeah, but who goes to OzzFest shows? Anthrax fans from 1985? I would imagine that most Anthrax fans today are fans of the Bush era. It doesn't really make much sense to me if it was driven by $.

With that said, I guess 90% of the fans will be there for Maiden and Sabbath, and they most likely would be fans of early Anthrax. Hmmm.....

I think thats what happened. Ive been visiting the ANTHRAX board alot. I think hes taking a break since his wife just had a baby. I love for them to play most of STD. Thats my favorite album.

So how quickly is this thing going to sell out then do you think? Does anyone know which day tickets go on sale?

There also always seems to be a correlation between bands being hyped in Guitar One magazine and OzzFest. I therefore predict CoB, Lamb of God, Shadows Fall -- the usual suspects.

But I have a sneaky suspicion that Megadeth might be added to the bill (with the Drover brothers line up). Perhaps even Iced Earth.

Jason/Zod and all other NY/NJ/PA/CT locals etc - what say you? PNC Arts Center + tailgate?

As per the rumour, this is what happened. Wouldn't surprise me.

There's a big Anthrax thread that covered all of this just a few weeks ago, you short memoried fuckz. :loco:

I think they're all emo-kids now :Puke:

Seems you're pondering the same thing as me? Why has Ozzfest suddenly turned good from last year? What was really stopping them from pulling all this off five years ago? I guess it can only be good for us if the times are changing in our favour...

but at one time (with Belladonna), Anthrax was considered cutting edge metal. as much as it hurts to say it, this year's ozzfest is a nostalgia thing...even maiden is just treading water.

yeah, last time I saw Maiden ... about a yeah and a half ago .. bored me to tears. Anthrax, I could care less about and Sabbath ... well .. I have an overdose of Ozzy from Tv. They are going to play the same old rehashed "hits" anyway.

Rather go see some new bands in some club, thanks.

Probably the same day.

I'm totally up for something like that - but let me give you some good advice: If you're willing to make the trek down to the Camden, NJ Tweeter Center (where it will probably be held near Philly), I can almost assure all of us great seats. I have a connection with a worker there who has hooked me up several times in the past. Remember when we saw Iron Maiden at the PNC Arts Center? I saw the same show a few days before at the Tweeter Center. You know where I sat? First row right in front of Dave Murray.

Sounds like a plan. I'm in, regardless of where we choose to see it.

I'm up for Camden, no worries. Except for all the dodgy people that come out after dark. First time I went there, I decided to take the train. After the show, EVERYONE got into their cars and drove away as fast as they could. Meanwhile, I had to walk to the trainstation. How I survived I'll never know.

Not for me. But either way, bringing Belladonna back in the band is not going to target the average 18 year old.

Maiden treading water? They just released their best album since 7th Son.

Sabbath is total nostalgia though, as is Anthrax with the original lineup.

Who gives a shit about Ozzy's tv show? I mean, what's that got to do with hearing Children of the Grave or Sweet Leaf live in a stadium? I've never seen Black Sabbath (in any line up) so it's almost like going to Mecca at this point.

Anyway, aren't you the biggest advocate of "metal needs rock stars and stadium shows"?? Yes, you are. :p

I have an alternate means of transportation (ferry boat across the river from Philly). No worries. :)

I hate fucking outdoor concerts, the sound usually sucks.
Saw Sabbath with Dio during DeHumanizer in a small theather in NYC ... that rocked.
oh wait ... I think fucking Anthrax opened for them.

And Anthrax ... I saw like a handful of times ... never by choice ... they always seemed to be paired with some other band i wanted to see, like Exodus.

I just like festivals. I like browsing through the vendor CD stalls, looking at the merchandise, drinking beer in the sun with your friends, cool music somewhere on stage at anytime of the day. OzzFest is funny because they bring in magicians, firebreathers, they have games, etc. If it wasn't for all the nuMetal crap that plagued OzzFest the last few years, I would have gone every year.

I still want to hear Dehumanizer. I think Dio live is phenomenal. He still puts on a great show even today.

Saw Anthrax open for Maiden during their "Time" tour. They were ok - "I'm the Man" is always fun.

I think outdoor events are great because you can smoke whatever you want and not get caught like I have 3985739215 times at indoor events, no matter the size.

I'll go to Ozzfest for $30 or under, which isn't likely. The venue is really nice and pretty close to me, except getting out of the parking lot literally takes 2 to 3 hours.
