This Year's Ozzfest

I used to own Alive or Just Breathing. It was far from horrible, but it was hardly the best. If you like that album, I can recommend numerous more albums within the sound that are a lot better.

Please do. I'm always up for some good recommendations. Keep in mind, I pretty much despise almost every Metalcore band played on MTV2, especially Shadows Fall.

Sure, no prob. I won't make the list too long. I don't listen to MTV, so........

Hopesfall - The Satellite Years and No Wings to Speak Of

Even ass-sniffing markgugs likes these guys. NWtSo is an EP, but it is the best thing they've ever done. Clean vocals are a big part of their sound, as well as the harder vocals, just like KSE. However, stay away from the debut, which is much more brutal, and definitely dodge the latest one, A Types, which is hardcore tinged emo. :ill:

7 Angel 7 Plagues - Jhazmyne's Lullaby
Clean vocals and almost death metal growl-ish vocals.THis was their only full-length and it's commonly heralded as a classic. It is very good. The band pictures look like a bunch of Abercrombie kids, but make no mistake, this is excellent. They throw in a piano track at the end...beautiful.

Cave In - Beyond Hypothermia and Until Your Heart Stops
Same thing hear, but a bit harder and more challenging. These are the only albums with this sound, as the band went to play spacey proggish rock after UYHS.

All in all, if you're curious, the Hopesfall EP is your best bet since it will be the cheapest investment, and is easy to find. Good luck.

Static X has two fucking kickass songs, two pretty cool songs, and then a bunch of boring crap. I've inadvertently seen them in concert several times, they are either boring beyond words or a lot of power chord mania fun. For a change it actually depends on the band, not level of beer consumption.

From Love Dump:

YOUR SHIT'S LIKE CHOCOLATE CAKE
AND YOUR ASS SMELLS LIKE A ROSE!

J, if you invented the term "lolcore" I'm going to forever excuse your endless gayness (for not liking Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Slayer, Morbid Angel or any other band that generally kicks the large metal butt, but instead emo shit like :hopesgay: ) because that just fucking rules

hehe, as much as I'd love for you to excuse my gayness for not liking gay bands, I can't take credit for the term. I do not remember who used it though. I just remember it was in the GMD, and it was a thread about metalcore or slipknot or something, and someone replied "Mallcore", and then the next guy replied "lolcore".

That is the only time i've ever seen the term used.
This was quite some time ago. When the search function is back up, we can search for the inventor of this new classic term.

I like Static X because the guitarist wears a ManOwaR t-short in the video for Black & White :)

You do realize he think's he's being "ironic" though, right? Like all those gromits in Motörhead and Judas Priest shirts who have never heard anything besides "Ace of Spades" and "Breaking the Law" but want to look "rock"

I wouldn't be surprised if that dude was actually a fan. I don't know though, but either way that type of so-called ironic humoUr is pretty lame. Even if Manowar is one of the worst bands ever. :)

I think it depends on the dude. Is it the singer/guitarist dude, or the hired gun dude that rapes 17 year old bitches? If the former I would guess a fan, the latter I would guess was being "ironic."

This is quite a silly discussion, one shit band liking or disliking another shit band doesn't mean a whole helluvalot to me. :D

So...what's um, going on? :D

FYI, I was reading that Megadeth will be doing their own 5-6 band festival hitting medium-sized venues. Don't know what that means to Ozzfest, but...it's something. :)

Also, I'd be up for a meet-up too, at either PNC or Camden. Ali, I'll drive. Fuck that train noise.
