Fave CoF is Vempire, for me, though I have to say I like all of their releases, with the exception of Cradle to Enslave e.p. and not all that keen on Nymphetamine, either.

I will probably pick this up as a request for X-mas gift to the family, as it's a band they will be able to find in the local shops. If you don't take them seriously, I really don't see what people have against CoF. His lyrics are very often amusing, and though his voice can indeed grate, they're certainly not as bad as 95% of what I have heard described as "black metal".
 
Yeah Cradle of Filth! I'm a huge Cradle of Filth fan and i'v heard three songs from them. Dirge Inferno was fuckin boring! Dani's vocals are as awsome as ever. He impressed me with some new things he can do with them. The guitars, drums, and bass were pretty good. There's nothing wrong with it and the song was structured well but there wasn't anything special about it. They need much more keyboards/back up vocals or maybe a solo. Then i heeard Temptations and it pissed me off! That song is pure shit! It's like a freakin pop song! Nothing is organized and that chick's vocals are horrible! I never thought i'd say a cradle song sux!. Then i heard Byronic Man which was really good. It was right in the middle of Dirge Inferno and Temptations. It has a good melody , but the end where Ville Valo sings was shit. Sounded horrible. It seems like the album was vvery experimental cuz of a lot of clean vocals. They want to do something that can push them to the limit and this is the limit. Anything more, and they won't even be metal anymore.

Wow. Coming from a girl who calls CoF their favorite band I am just plain wowed. But I can see what you mean this certainly isn't as good as their other albums. I'm probably in the minority of this but Damnation And A Day is my favorite album from them. I don't know why it just is.
 
I haven't purchased or listened to any CoF since Bitter Suites To Succubi, which was pretty god dammed lame. CoF used to be one of my favorite bands, but I've grown to realize that goth metal is done much better by many and with a lot more class. I'll always like Dusk And Her Embrace however...

It's a relatively well done concept album? It's definitely an album that benefits from being listened to in one sitting, that's for sure.
 
Im gonna buy it today. The songs I've heard were awesome as always :kickass: I really want the new
Anaal Nathrakh album too afte listening to "When the lion devours both dragon and child" It was fantastic!
But I dont have the money....yet
 
I thought it was ok. I'm a moderate CoF fan, seem to like their stuff all the way through to a similar degree. This album lacks a bit of the atmospheric and interest elements of previous, more of a standard metal / thrash feel to it, which (imho) tends to make the vocals sound out of place - whereas on the more atmospheric albums I quite enjoyed Dani's crazed vocals.
Still enjoyable on the whole though. Foetus of a New Day Kicking is my favourite song, and I reckon it's title is great :)
 
The new Cradle is rubbish. Seriously, I've tried to like it, I really have. But it just does nothing for me. And that Temptation cover is absolutely shocking...
Nymphetamine was lowest on my Cradle list, but this one takes the prize...

My first post and I'm bashing one of my favorite bands...it's just not right!

Same here... the early stuff is quite good and they used to a favorite of mine... now they are just very bland.

I can't say I'm disappointed with the album, since I didn't have very high expectations for it in the first place. But yeah, it's the worst they've come out with by a landslide.
 
It's just boring. Not extremally bad but boring which is even worse because you can't even have fun critisising it.
 
It would appear I'm not alone :) I on the other hand had HUGE expectations for this album - Byronic Man and Fetus of a New Day Kicking were the first tracks I heard - not a good start! Can't imagine the next album being any better....Cruelty and Vempire still rule the lot.

I would not go that far. The guitar players are more competant than a nu-metal band.
 
I have been playing guitar for awile and they're not idiots for sure. I guess either you get dani or not. He has toned toned down alittle, but still over the top. I think he's probably the reason why the band is so gothic and commercial. People like vampires,etc... :lol:
 
Did cradle of filth have the really good drummer from my dying bride at one point ?
