Thrash!

Who likes Lääz Rockit? Probably the worst bandname ever, but I'm just listening to a song off the "Nothing'$ $acred" album for the first (second, actually) time and it thrashes like mad. If the whole album's like this I should fucking get it, fucking soon too.

Laaz Rockit is pretty classy Power/Thrash. I've always enjoyed 'em.

Let's all worship Sodom now. In particular, M-16, and not just cause I just saw Full Metal Jacket. A fucking excellent album–vicious, straightfoward thrash as only Sodom can play it, with an added tone of heaviness comparable to The Antichrist. You NEED this album.

I AM THE WAR! NEVER DISARMED!
I AM THE WAR! WITHIN MY HEART
I AM THE WAR! SUPREME COMMAND!
I AM THE WAR! LIVING ON THE EDGE!
I AM THE WAAARRRR!!

I wish Onkel Tom was really my uncle.

Fuckin right. I love Code Red and Agent Orange too. Hell, all their albums kick ass. Sodom can do no wrong. Easily one of my favorite thrash bands.

Well, Erik, that's pretty much the reason I like the album. I would usually hate it when any Thrash band resorts to groove and such, but Overkill, like Black Sabbath, has a perfect concept of groove and nails it perfectly in my eyes. "Battle" and "Bold Face Pagan Stomp" are up there with my favourite Overkill songs because they just fucking WORK. :headbang:

I'd like to point out that among the Overkill faithful, this (along with I Hear Black) is generally the least liked album. Personally, I dig it quite a bit. "The Mourning After" = WAY different from anything Overkill did before or since, but I love it. And "Cleansing," "Battle," and "God-Like" are total fucking ragers.

Not a great album, but a good one.

American Thrash is sissy Thrash compared to German Thrash.

Go listen to Darkness Descends, Slaughter In The Vatican, Swallowed In Black, Spectrum Of Death, Bonded By Blood, Reign In Blood, and Seven Churches about 1850 times each, then go drink your Tennent's 'til the room spins, then walk outside and wait for a truck to hit you.

Only partially true. German thrash is indeed much heavier than bands such as Megadeth, Testament, Laaz Rockit, Heathen, Forbidden, etc. But Sadus and Dark Angel are as heavy as most German thrash. I must admit, that I much prefer German style thrash to Bay Area style thrash, but that is just personal preference.

Exhorder - "Slaughter In The Vatican" and Dark Angel - "Darkness Descends" are heavier than any German Thrash I've ever heard. This is coming from someone who likes German Thrash more than American.

I can't deny that German thrash kicks serious ass, but some of it is so histrionic and over-the-top.

Unkel Tom Angelripper? I love Sodom, but hehehheheheeheehahahahahaaa!!!

Sorry, I'm done now.

Thrash on, bitches!

Oh, indeed he does. Persecution Mania and Agent Orange are classics.

I'm just saying, if you compare the song titles and lyrics of German thrash bands to American ones, they're much more over-the-top and slightly more ridiculous. It does reflect in the playing style as well, which is why Kreator and Destruction's comeback albums slaughtered Exodus's IMO.

Just an observation.
