Thrash!

Not a big TM fan myself - however 2 Releases I like:
Savage Messiah - The fateful dark
Paradox - Tales from the Weird

Maybe that is because both are very melodic and I am more of a PM fan.

Love Paradox. Have you heard their other releases?

There are quite a few other thrash/power metal bands you might like too. HB could help you with that more than I could though. Helstar comes to mind.

No this was the first release I was Aware of. Will check the others out as well.
I found them because some Reviews described them as similar to early Blind Guardian with a bit more Aggression.

Helstar is also great. Their style seems to be somewhere in the middle of Thrash and Power Metal as well.

Any similar recommendations would be welcome.

Few off the top of my head
Angel Steel
Risk (GER)
Messiah Force
Scanner
Iron Angel
Heathen
Liege Lord

I am not very keen on Power Metal so if this is not what you are looking for sorry.

Heresy is one of my favorites of theirs, Collision Course is also good.

Toxik's Think This comes to mind. Also Artillery. I'd 2nd Risk. Riot?

In 2010 Besieged released an amazing Victims Beyond All Help, best thrash metal album of the past decade, IMO. It sounds like a perfect blend of early Sepultura, Demolition Hammer, and Pestilence. The roughly barked vocals remind of young Max Cavalera a lot.

Yeah, that's a real banger that will not disappoint any fan of 80's thrash.

Number of quality releases found, by year:

1993: 37
1994: 29
1995: 28
1996: 10
1997: 25
1998: 23
1999: 24
2000: 16
2001: 16
2002: 18
2003: 29
2004: 30
2005: 44
2006: 39
2007: 57
2008: 60
2009: 81
2010: 66
2011: 67
2012: 82
2013: 60

It looks like the lowest point in thrash history was 1996, followed by 2000-2002. The resurgence to early 90's levels began in 2003 and fairly steadily increased from then on. With the two highest points in the new wave of thrash being 2009 and 2012.

Obviously this data is far from perfect. It's based on my own opinions of what thrash and quality are. But I tried to at least use the same search techniques for each year from 1993-2013. Also I'm starting to notice I'm biased towards certain sub-sub-genres, like Technical, Crossover, and Pure. Death/thrash and black/thrash seem to be secondary, but I enjoy some of it. I don't like much power/thrash.

I'll keep going, finish up 2014, and then go back and do the 80's and early 90's as well. I'd like to get this data for the entire history of thrash and make a couple timelines. Also I want to make a list of 'top 10 releases per year'. At least 1996 will be easy!

i seriously doubt any of those years had a number of great thrash albums above single figures lol. higher standards plz

I'm including "C" or better thrash.

Of course you can form your own opinions, but I think definitely years like 2009 and 2012 had more than single figures of "A" level albums (as well as many other years in my opinion).

I put a shitload of work into finding these and making these lists. You're just going to write it all off because you "seriously doubt" it? It's as easy as clicking a playlist and scanning through some of the songs on it... I've made it as easy as possible for you.

i wasn't writing it off as bad tbf, if you're doing C or above then that's probably fair enough, although i'd personally find it more useful to have a more compact list of just the As tbh. i take your point though, i will check out your playlist/s, i do appreciate the effort! i'll let you know if i come across anything i really dig.

:kickass: great job man

I was going through my RYM list and here are a few we left off...

Violent Omen - L.U.N.A.C.Y. - 2013

Battery - Armed With Rage - 2014

Condition Critical - Operational Hazard

Warhead - Death Row - 2013

Atomic Head - March of the Urban Zombies - 2011
Black Magik - The Apocalypse - 2013
Warhawk - Sic Sempes Tyrannis - 2012
