Yes, I know what "old school" Thrash Metal is. Trust me. What you are referring to are bands like Warbringer, Violator, Suicidal Angels, Bonded by Blood, Fueled by Fire, et cetera who are basically clone (but not bad) bands. I was talking about contemporary Thrash as a similar, yet different (but not as good, I agree) sound. To me The Haunted and Blood Tsunami fall into this category. Just because they don't sound like Slayer or Exodus doesn't mean they're not Thrash. That's like saying Deeds of Flesh or Behemoth isn't Death Metal because they don't sound like Possessed or Master or Morbid Angel. Get it?

The Crown, Dew-Scented, The Haunted, Blood Tsunami, and similar bands are not Thrash Metal. You are mistaken Thrash influences (to varying degrees) with Thrash Metal. Seriously, if you do not hear the Gothenburg influence in The Crown of The Haunted, then you're either full of shit to prove a point, or you just don't know enough about one or the other (or both) to discriminate and dissect the influences that contribute to what is referred to as the "modern thrash" sound.

And by the way, all of the bands you mentioned as new "old school" thrash fucking suck. Try these bands instead:

That's a good question, apparently it's hard to find now. They're currently recording their second full-length album for Witches Brew, which will KICK FUCKING ASS and destroy everything you've heard from them before. Songs like Lords Of Slaughter And Warfare, Possession, and Angel Hunter are the reason why Thrash Metal can still be considered relevant in the 00s.

Okay here we go. While not my specialisation in genre, Thrash was the subtype which took me to more extremes back back in my heyday of the mid/late 80s.

These days, with my trajactory in Black Metal becoming more thrash-orientated (thanks to Aura Noir, Darkthrone's latest offering and other bands such as Toxic Holocaust), I've found myself travelling back in time to my beginnings and finally arriving at Death Angel's brilliant debut.

Thing is, I want more, but I want to explore some of the more lesser known gems, of both yesteryears and today.

So, suggestions folks? I want stuff with a very raw, 80s feel. No over the top technicalities either. Simple, aggressive, dirty and urban.

i've been meaning to ask this of Necuratul (but if other people did it too it would be really cool) basically i know i shouldn't be promoting in here but if a few people who really know thrash could check out my band (the link is in my sig) and tell me what they think that would be really cool. basically a lot of people have said its good but then again they aren't behind the mask of the internet so even if you think it sucks balls it would be great if people could tell me what they think so i could get an honest, unbiased sort of feedback on our stuff. i know everyone isn't going to like it and to hear some real feedback would be kickass.

Enemy: I likke the sound, it's cool...the multi-tempo sound while still being thrash is good stuff. A few problems I have:

Cymbals a LITTLE too loud
Switch riffs a little more (possibly write some smaller melodic licks too)
Vocals are weak
