Thrash!

What do you guys think of Evile? I think they are decent for modern thrash. And they really do play thrash, unlike The Haunted or Blood Tsunami, who claim to play thrash but really play metalcore/melodeath.

Metalcore/Melodeath? What? Have you ever even listened to The Haunted or Blood Tsunami?

As for your first question, Evile are okay, but there is much better "modern" Thrash Metal out there.

I cannot stand The Haunted.

I'd rather listen to Limp Bizkit.

Yes I'm serious. :zombie:

I really need to get more Thrash.

Only Thrash I have is:

Metallica (KEA, RTL)
Sepultura (Arise)
Megadeth (RIP)
Testament (The New Order)
Municipal Waste (The Art Of Partying) (no flame plz)
Slayer (SNM, HA, RIB)

Yah, quite limited. I think exploring into Kreator, Destruction, Sodom, and some others would be a good idea. :kickass:

And you wouldn't know it, because you think The Haunted and Blood Tsunami are thrash  wtf

And what, you're saying that they aren't Thrash? No, they're not Bay Area Thrash, or New York Thrash, or Brazilian Thrash, or Teutonic Thrash, no. But they are definitely bands that could be considered modern, contemporary Thrash Metal. Not to mention I see little (if none at all) connection with them and Metalcore and/or Melodic Death Metal. But that's just me. Think what you will.

By the way, for Teutonic Thrash, check out Exumer, Darkness, and Iron Angel. Maybe even some Tankard too.

Modern, contemporary thrash isn't really thrash metal by that definition. There are more modern, contemporary bands playing actual thrash that sounds like original thrash with updated production and songwriting and still doesn't venture into Gothendeathrash-wannabe zone as those bands do. Blood Tsunami is a band pretending to make good ol' thrash metal, not doing it correctly, and getting very popular by their association with Faust, popular enough for many people who cannot listen critically to consider them thrash metal. If you listen to Dark Angel, Holy Terror or Artillery and then Blood Tsunami and still think BT and Haunted are thrash, you're absolutely just flat-out deaf.

Yes, I know what "old school" Thrash Metal is. Trust me. What you are referring to are bands like Warbringer, Violator, Suicidal Angels, Bonded by Blood, Fueled by Fire, et cetera who are basically clone (but not bad) bands. I was talking about contemporary Thrash as a similar, yet different (but not as good, I agree) sound. To me The Haunted and Blood Tsunami fall into this category. Just because they don't sound like Slayer or Exodus doesn't mean they're not Thrash. That's like saying Deeds of Flesh or Behemoth isn't Death Metal because they don't sound like Possessed or Master or Morbid Angel. Get it?

Dark Angel, Morbid Saint, Heathen, and Rigor Mortis should be up there on your "to check out" list along with Destruction, Kreator, and Sodom.

Thank you all, will begin to check these out now! :kickass:

The Crown, Dew-Scented, The Haunted, Blood Tsunami, and similar bands are not Thrash Metal. You are mistaken Thrash influences (to varying degrees) with Thrash Metal. Seriously, if you do not hear the Gothenburg influence in The Crown of The Haunted, then you're either full of shit to prove a point, or you just don't know enough about one or the other (or both) to discriminate and dissect the influences that contribute to what is referred to as the "modern thrash" sound.

And by the way, all of the bands you mentioned as new "old school" thrash fucking suck. Try these bands instead:

Sauron (US)
Lethal (Swe)
Corrupt (Swe)
Enforcer (Swe)
Oppression (Swe)
Caustic Strike (Swe)
Nocturnal (Ger)
Toxic Holocaust (US)
Hellish Crossfire (Ger)

Ah, pull out the old "your opinion if fucking stupid and wrong" thing, I love it. Good list of bands though. I could care less to argue anymore about what we think they are. Regardless neither The Haunted or Blood Tsunami are that good, so I'll spend my time arguing about which Sailor Moon character is Trey's "fav."
